Good luck finding an appropriate consumer grade case to accomodate 8 drives (space and cooling being the issues of concern
i have 8 drives in my case... 4 of them are 7200 RPM IDE drives, installed in the 4 3.5" internal drive bays my case offers, with 2 80mm fans blowing air on them. the other 4 are 10000 RPM SATA drives, installed in 5.25" drive bays, each with 2 20mm fans (?) blowing over them. all of the fans are surprisingly quiet...
the the "what's your shoe size" is a reference to monty python...
Mervyn Hello, hello, operator? Yes we're trying to get the fire brigade... No, the fire brigade. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, what?... (he takes one of his shoes off and looks in it) Size eight. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, no of course not, Yes......
Mrs Little (into the phone) Hello, I'm sorry to keep you waiting, It's just that... (she takes her shoe off and looks inside) size three, yes it's just - we've lost a dear one and my son was... yes, that's right, size eight, yes and... Oh I see... yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, I see, yes, yes, I, I... Yes, yes. No... no... yes, I see. They can't get the fire brigade Mervyn - will the Boys' Brigade do?
unless you specifically want to use the Mac OS, do not buy a mac just because it looks good (and, as many have pointed out, they do not all look good...). it sounds like this person is looking for a PC anyway, and as such it is annoying to see 20 posts saying "if you want style get a mac". (full disclosure: i use a mac, and a windows PC, each for different things, and i enjoy using both.)
those things are some of the easiest cases to work with. all the screws are the thumb-screw type, easy to remove. the motherboard tray slides right outfor very easy installation/upgrading. if you want your PC to look like an aluminum monolith, i would reccommend them (especially their full tower model). BUT, i don't think that's what the submitter had in mind..
huh? care to explain that? i'm pretty sure the DVDs you rent at blickbuster are the same ones you're able to buy in stores... with the exception of "special edition" DVDs that are released after a first DVD of that movie is already out. (as opposed to the "special editions" that are the only editions available)
if radio stations could legally accept money to play certain songs, they could eliminate most non-song related advertising. instead of commercials, they would just play the sponsored songs, and they would be damn sure to tell you who sang the song and what album it was on, from what label, because that's what they'd be being paid, specifically, to do.
come on... everybody who's anybody knows about usenet. that includes riaa, mpaa, software publishers, etc. they have to know. that being said, use of usenet for piracy must not be that big of a threat compared to p2p networks, or else i'm sure they'd be all over it like they are p2p...
i have at least 60 gigs of mp3s... of course, most of it is stuff i'm not listening to on a regular basis. but if you collect a lot of music, (and if you've been collecting for a few years) i'm sure 60 gigs is easy...
In other news people who build thier own computers have Linux or a pirated version of windows on it a majority of the time also.
i built myself a new pc this year. i ordered all the parts from newegg. i also ordered an OEM copy of windows XP pro. what i installed on my computer was a VLK copy of winXP pro, so i wouldnt have to deal with microsoft's foolish product activation, and any problems that might arise if i radically changed my hardware(because at first, i did not add all the components that i wanted, because i couldnt afford all of them at the time, such as high end video and sound vards, dvd burner, 2 pairs of fast SATA drives, etc.).
my legal copy of winXP is still in the shrinkwrap, i havent used it or its cd-key. i'm sure that this is a violation of their license, or copyright, or something, but i did pay for one copy of windows xp, and i'm using windows xp on one computer, and i dont feel bad about it.
the first one was a riovolt mp3/cd player. i got an ipod, then i got another ipod. just recently, i got one of those sandisk cruzer micro mp3 companion things, which is sweet. and i just bought a mini mp3/cd player on ebay... i also think i might get an ipod mini sometime next year...
the wifi connection is available only between a half-hour after they open to a half-hour before they close, on days that they're open.
i dont know what kind of access point they're using, but my off-the-shelf consumer one lets me set what times it can be used... if they dont want people to use it, why do they leave the damn thing on?
a vertical design for an all in one computer with an lcd seems to make the most sense. but when apple introduced the first lcd imac, they said that one of the first ideas was a vertical design, and they scrapped that, because there was a problem with the optical drive, that in a vertical position it could only spin up to a certain speed (or something like that...). what's changed that not they DO want a vertical design now?
i read about the timetrax software on boingboing.net 3 weeks ago. i immediately bought an XM PCR from pcconnection.com for $40 (plus shipping). i had been thinking about XM for quite a while, and the only thing holding me back was paying $100+ for just another way to listen to music... but something i can hook up to my PC, and occasionally record stuff from (such as.. the stand up - sit down show on the comedy channel, which i had downloaded some episodes of off of usenet before instead), and which i can take anywhere as long as i take my laptop along, instead of having something tethered to my car without buying all sorts of extra equiptment... this thing seemed really cool when i first heard about it, and after 3 weeks, i continue to think so.
i'll bet, in the last few weeks, these things have been selling like hot cakes. and XM must have thought... "people seem to like this. LET"S GET RID OF IT!"
personally, i still download music, i still buy CDs, and i think i'll continue my XM subscription indefinitely, but this seems like a real boneheaded move to me...
IIRC, the female sunbather in question is shown from the back, and her bikini top has snapped off (or something like that), and it might barely show the outline of one of her breasts.
you're over a week late with this "news""

The PROBLEM is still that MPAA and their partners DOES NOT ALLOW USERS TO PAY THEM for downloaded movies.
someone does

i don't think they do... Comedy Central can broadcast whatever the hell they want, e.g. the south park movie, in its entirety, uncensored...

A massively multilayer Grand Theft Auto would be a game that would claim may a soul. It will happen eventually but not for a long time I think.
nothing like GTA, but an mmorpg with cars... auto assault
oh lighten up. after seeing the [world server is down] several times over several days, i found that comment rather amusing.
and the low-population servers quickly turn into high population servers when they're the only ones online...
Ya know, I read this exact plan in an old Hardy Boys novel.
i saw them do it on Mr. Wizard. but with real dirty water, not urine...
and each time you zip a file, it compresses even more!

by 2015, all of the episodes of the simpsons might actually be out on DVD...

yeah, then i download enough music in 10 seconds to fill up my 40 gig ipod...

The one thing that I would like to see is an after market arm that will clamp to the desk or be mounted on the wall to allow for more adjustability.
they already make these. any LCD mount will work with the new iMac. take your pick
in both cases the manga are even better!
