Antique Distros?

A lot of older distros (Mandrake and RedHat) will no longer be supported. So be wary if you're going to put this machine on the net. It may be very likely that there are security holes in some of the packages, and your machine could be easily hacked.
Is the stability. Also the vast number of easy to come by applications. And they all meet or exceed industry standards everywhere. Microsoft Word and other Office apps are what get taught in school, and it's what I'm glad to have learned. And for development, I was lucky enough to go to a place that taught in Visual C++.
I fail to see how this is relevant. It is simply not possible for the cable companies to do something like this. It would require a complete rewrite of the CTV (Cable Television) Protocol.
And besides, what if your children only wanted to watch something wholesome, like Akira, or Ghost in the Shell? People like you really irk me the wrong way.
You should all go back to sitting by the fire and listening to the FM Stereo.
However, the MS GUI is far from boring. With the release of Windows XP, MS offered the user the choice of three widely different User Interface experiences. The XP Silver one is my favourite, and I find it easy to get real work done in it.

Bad for you. Let us not forget our Korean friend that died after playing EverQuest for 80 hours straight. Our human bodies are simply not made for that kind of exertion.
AIM and ICQ are both owned by AOL. ICQ is the original IM. And at one point was the most poular. There have occasionally been UNIX knockoffs, like the vastly inferior command line "talk" implementation, however it was incapable of letting you know whne new users had signed on, also, it could not do file transfers.
Programs like Trillian, that do what the author of this article suggests have been having a difficult time lately because they steal Yahoo, AOL, and Microsofts intellectual property, in an attempt to make money. It's like companies like Kazaa and Gnucleus that make money off of other people trading files. It's illegal. And not a good idea.
This is just AOL doing what is best. They saw a duplication of effort in their own company and decided to stop it. I would bet that a lot more people would use Linux if Open Source programmers would wake up and realize that they also are (most of the time) duplicating effort. Gnome and KDE are but one example. Just search freshmeat for an mp3 database organizer one day, and you'll see what I mean.
By admiting that you have pirated some or all of your music collection, you are looking for trouble. Pirating music is wrong and illegal, boys and girls. Don't be stupid like this article poster.
Finally OpenBSD will ahve some straight up competition. For a long time it has been the most secure, and the only BSD with SMP support. Now we will finally see the battle for BSD supremacy heating up!
I have long known that FreeBSD is a better Desktop OS than Linux. And now the few of us that have truly seen the light will be able to browse the web in style. Mozilla may be okay, but Opera is just plain better.
Enjoy, my fellow FreeBSD users. Soon Linux will be no more!
If humanity keeps on polluting like we do, pretty soon we won't even be able to see the auroras. People, please lobby your congresspeople to sign the Kyoto accord before it's too late!

When was the last time you actually bought a cd? Hell, when was the last time you acted as a normal, God fearing citizen of these United States of America?
It would appear that you live in New Zealand. From what I have heard, CDs are very competitively priced there, when compared against places like the EU, or the USA. That is why it is beneficial for you to pollute the environment while getting new music to listen to. For the pirates in other parts of this world, this is not the case.

Napster is indeed to blame for the decline in sales. It is much easier to download something than to go to the store and pay for it. And besides, once downloaded, you can then burn it onto an audio cd.
It will help him to prepare for a normal adult life. Perhaps instead of gaming on the wekends, you could set it up so that he interacts with the other tournament participants. I know he's not old enough to start drinking, but just about anything is better than playing games!
People: don't sit back and let your children turn into yourselves! Humans are social animals, geeks especially. If you start them early, there's no telling what they can become!
Everyone should know at this point that Ogg Vorbis encoded tracks not only sound better, but the take up less disk space as well. I would hope that any "MP3" player that supports Unix also supports Ogg Vorbis.
Just as we have seen record stores phasing out tapes over the last few years, we know start to see the same with VHS. And it's about time. VHS tapes degrage horribly over time.

Our Premiere is currently very anti Kyoto, and yet we see every day the effects that global warming is having on this province and in Canada. It is the people that focus on capitalism that will lead to the downfall of our species, for they are too short sighted to look into alternatives for the fossil fuels that we use in our daily lives.
But what will it do to the continuum of time?

It would be really nice if it supported ogg files though. I would buy it then.
