Agreed. Because of a very non-transparent(for the lack of a good word) administration, people just buy into whatever current administration sells them.
For India its always choosing between better evil.
Also corruption in India is like flu infected household(i.e we keep infecting each other), populace are enormously corrupt, people take money/personal favors/liquor and sell their votes to politicians and political leaders in turn spend tax payers money for themselves and then tax system is itself a big mess, Bureaucrats corrupt politicians and politicians corrupt Bureaucrats.

When I was doing my masters(in India) , my friend through his relative was able to get a project with DRDO(One of India's Defence Research Department).
His project was to develop a GUI in QT in linux for the Data Packet Sniffer program they already had in place, yes it reads all the incoming and outgoing emails of all the employees
, and everybody knows about this and nobody cares about it.
India has bigger problems called Corruption,Terrorism,Communal Conflicts to deal with that everyone is treated Guilty until proven Innocent.

Why would a tube of toothpaste be completely colored green -- did green have some special significance to Indians that we didn't understand?

but the answer for that rings bells all over my head
yes yellow, green and red are very special for Indians.
Because these colors run so deep into our culture, customs and tradition, I bet every Indian even who is below poverty line and very rich can relate to these almost immediately
Yellow reminds/represents Haldi has been used for household medicine and food color for centuries
Red reminds/represents Sindoor (wonder why some call us DOTS)
Green reminds/represents many leafy things but most importantly Neem has been used for medicine and brushing teeth (yes) for centuries

Developers spend significant time reading and navigating code fragments spread across multiple locations. The file-based nature of contemporary IDEs makes it prohibitively difficult to create and maintain a simultaneous view of such fragments. We propose a novel user interface metaphor for code understanding and maintanence based on collections of lightweight, editable fragments called bubbles, which form concurrently visible working sets.

I agree with Developers spending time reading and navigating code fragments but isn't that part of the job ? I think its called debugging ,locating problem, identifying it in the code and fixing it, if it takes navigating or standing on his head he will do it.
