Avast ye scurvy unbelever, NASA has plans for some of the finest ships to sail the voids! Ye may think that the budget flounders but by God she'll settle straight yet!
When America's budgetary concerns pick up this not having money blarney will sink and her captain keelhauled, and cash will flow from the grand admiral's treasury!
ye haven't seen anything like the ships that will sail when the economic blow heads south and the seas are smooth again. Avast I say!
to steal a quote, markets can remain irrational long after a rational trader becomes insolivant. This includes rational predictions about human behavior.
If one of these doesn't do the trick we can make an airplane capable of dropping one, then another on precisely the same spot a minute later. And a third if need be. six hundred feet of penetration! America wins World's Biggest Penatrator award! can you feel that? Take it right in the bunker bab-- sorry.
My point is, with this and smart bomb technology at the level America has it, no bunker is safe anymore, not at any depth. This has an immense geopolitical effect. North Korea is going to have to work even harder to hide their programs--and expose them in the process. Iran can no longer feel safe announcing a nuclear bomb should it develope one. And any country that has, in the past, felt less fear of American military might because of conventional equipment being held in deep bunkers will no longer be as eager to put it to the test.
With one weapon, America has greatly advanced its interests everywhere the military counts.
mod parent up!
Many people are sitting on their asses or actually putting in far fewer hours than they get paid for because not laying them off costs companies less in insurance costs, taxes, and capacity changing/reorginization costs. These inefficiencies are caused directly by the more efficient economy we now have. It is actually a fairly effecient way to share the wealth: part time workers, full time pay.
A quarter of a watt is a percentage of the static I gather walking. A processor like that is powerful enough to run a tiny GPS, an insert in my shoe. Add a little foot-pad to power a HUD and attached map and I always know where I am. This is one of many, many uses. Anyone still thinking "cell phone" is missing the point.
Do explain the "magical" part of anything in that list. Tell me one of thosse this suit can't enable. If it can support weight at the speed I can already move, I can punch through a wall or jump to the top of my one-story tall house with it. (jumping down is a different story)The air-bag system I mentioned isn't for sale because no one wants to carry it around. Given a powered suit both weight and heat become non-concerns. Did you mis-interpret "run to the top of a skyscraper?" I meant using the stairs. No everything I said becomes possible when I can have a machine that lifts considerable weight and moves with me.
Check to see if Digg and Reddit are counting diggs and ummm reds? accurately. (I think they're not)
Check to see if it makes the front page on any major site, then is quickly sidelined.
Most importantly DO WHAT NERDS DO BEST and dissasemble this thing as soon as possible! You'll be looking to see what it's looking for and who and how it sends it.
Am I the only person to see the uses?
I want an air conditioner when I step outside. I want to not be limited to my own physical strength. I want to run without getting tired. I want to walk down to the hardware store... for 50 bricks and some fertilizer. I want to jump up onto my house's roof. I want a backup air supply just in case. And since I'm not limited by weight, why not a backup com system, a palmtop computer, a couple of extra batteries, a first aid kit, a change of clothing, and the other stuff people put in their cars and have to go back to their cars for.
I want to lay aside concerns of endurance. I want to carry my six years old son about all day. I want to jack up my car by looking around for a sturdy piece of something, lifting that side of the car, and propping it up. I want to carry home six shopping bags without sweating. I want to carry heavy boxes sometimes. I want to wear a set of airbags that will tripple my chances of surviving most accidents.
I want to punch through a wall, throw a big rock, run up to the top of a skyscraper. I want to hike to the top of Mount Fuju without stopping OR taking 6 months to get into shape. I want to take my dog out for a run at his speed. I want to climb mountains after learning how, not after an extensive weightlifting regime. I want to transplant a tree without heavy equipment.
I want to fight a bear, catch a horse, hold down an aligator. I want to say a permanent goodbye to being physically inferior to any animal.
I want to clean my house all day, play with my sons for hours, fix my roof, and mow the lawn without getting too tired.
I want this suit!
Wait, no they aren't. Whether your computation is done with electrons, metal, and gates or chemicals, neurons, and massively parallel signals in a semi-chaotic system of interconnected brain tissues, these two facts exist:
Computers are turing complete.
Brains are turing complete.
You can hide your head in the sand and talk about "free will" all you like, but the fact that you have wetwear does not define youer thinking as better in any way. Any other way of looking at it is mindless faith in religion.
What morons are modding posts like this insightful? Anyone with the slightest bit of knowledge on the topic knows that UAC and Microsoft's policy of requiring admin privilages for admin level access by programs WAS the way microsoft fixed their shit. You know, back when they made Vista.
What? Are you trying to blame Microsoft for problems they fixed a full 2 OSs ago? Shall I start bringing up UNIX problems and saying, "This is the problem with linux"? That is the discrepency here. Vista, while it does have its problems, represents a full departure from the "admin for everything" era.
Until they've done what can be done, we're still entitled to gripe. Thats right! an OS must conform to the full Orange Book specifications before we can praise it for anything!
You want to blame Microsoft for lazy software companies just asking for admin access for their whole program? Game manufacturers not using the API right? Or maybe, just maybe, you are a karma whore looking for some anti-Microsoft mod. Thats okay, most of the posts in this whole fucking article are equally foolish.
That information is not available. The PDF linked to as "the spec" is merely a press release, and the other linked documents aren't any better. It seems like they haven't really agreed.
overrated? That doesn't even make sense. Even if the features of most colonies bacteria are completely unique, that would only indicate a requirement even deeper seperation by individual feature. (i.e. metabolization of a particular substance into sugar by using a particular amino acid reaction)
First, you have no idea who that person is or what he has done. Second, you are probably not more qualified to judge whether those activities are, as a whole, better or worse than other potential activities than anyone else. Third, Even if you know him, know what he has done, and are educated and wise enough to decide its effects, you sit in no seat of judgement.
I would recommend, in your case, an emergency surgery for that rectocranial blockage.
disclaimer: Other that noticing your astonishing level of assininity, I am in no way familiar with anyone in this conversation.
Can I finally have my artery-clearing, cancer-attacking, medicine-carrying, and blood-clotting robots that will imediately improve my lifespan, quality of life, and allow me to eat all the cheese potato chips I like?
And with the new chinese technology, for which I can't find a link, that is a problem. They have found a way to look for momentary interruptions in consumer elecronics' signals to find a stealth aircraft. It has already been masively deployed with the excuse that it is used for censorship.

Suppose that they only want people willing to go through x amount of bullshit in submission to authority...
I, for one, would be happier to see ads tailored to my demographic than a random mix.
let a hundred thousand dollars of hardware loose without tracking it properly or securing it and tell the world where it is. hmmmmmm

You are making a mistake: With or without a degree, with or without a grant, anyone practicing science is a scientist.

My God! you're right! I'm petitioning Obama to outlaw these dangerous bags immediately! We must make our airways safe!

Well, they are trying to trick people by getting you to buy an OS
Thats all you had to say.

See, with radar a "hole" means nothing is there.

90% is enough for visual aquisition, laser sighting, and in the future radar sighting to require 1/10th the distance. A 90% drop is massive success.
