    I'm trying to get everyone to use the PAX05 tag on flickr. There are around 450 pictures so far.

    I've personally uploaded around 150 of the 1700 I took, and threw together a quick page hosting a few panoramas (wait a few days to download the large versions where possible, I don't know if they really meant unlimited bandwidth. :).

    Not only that, but it's probably a hot-swapable drive (or, at the least, won't self destruct if you remove it while powered on)... that takes effort and hardware to get right.

    Right. And comparing the space needle yields different results (MSN has higher detailed imagery). They are both in beta.

    Why turn down that extra cash from overseas sales.

    Probably because the are not licensed to distribute in a competing territory. Imagine if they could sell in Japan cheaper than the licensing organization... I don't think the Japanese firm would be too happy.

    That's the problem with quantum computers. Their uptime has no negative impact on you... until you start to actually observe their stability.

    They're repealing the broadcast flag (though Hollywood is figuring a way around that), enforcing speedy trials, making cases open that the government wants closed, etc. etc.

    Seems like judicial branch is working. It's the legislative branch that needs to be woken up.

    Yeah, but then the best you can get is 1m black and white.

    If you clicked my link, you would see big, bold red letters that say:
    Version 2.0 of the TerraService is now available! Version 2.0 supports the Urban Area data theme.

    From May, 2004:
    "We have been loading more of the new, high resolution, natural color imagery called "Urban Area" data. In addition to Seattle, we have added Washington D.C., Atlanta, Chicago, Houston to name a few of the major cities added the database. We will continue to add new Urban Area data as it arrives from the USGS. We have received 46 of the 133 planned cities this calendar year."

    TerraServer, which has been around much longer than Google Maps, has a documented SOAP API for grabbing image data.

    It'll never happen here. See, we're a set of independent states, held loosely together by a federal government that ensures interstate cooperation, handles country-wide threats, and deals with interstate rule breakers. Kind of like the EU.

    Err, well... at least that's how it was originally.

    This is not flamebait, it is a serious question:

    Have you been to the PDC? Or are you basing this opinion on web broadcasts?
    I haven't been to PDC. But if you have, you're the first person, out of around a dozen that I've read, that would claim that the XBox demonstrations, in person, were not HD quality (let alone much better than Sony's).

    Here's just one example.

    It was designed to be insecure, when your running as administrator. Of course the admin account lets you do/install anything. Would you let your kids run Linux under a root account?!

    People, install your main applications under administrator privilages, then run day-to-day as a regular user. If you reduce your exposed area of attack using the tools built into the operating system, you'll find yourself under much fewer attacks.

    In all seriousness, I do have quite a life. This was my "Hello World" project to learn C# and the .Net Framework. I've got a real job and a family, so between commitments and coding, I don't really have much time to actually play the game itself.

    Working with open-source libraries and creating something that is used by people around the world has been a great experience. Not only has it introduced me to many great people, and provided an outlet to contribute to the Halo community, I've furthered my own technical experience at the same time.

    In the great movie Sneakers, they hired Leonard Adleman, one of the co-inventors of the RSA algorithm. He provided slides for the big math lecture. Thinking that, hey, this was Hollywood, he spent a solid week (going off memory there) creating pretty graphs and typographically sound mockups of the subject material, in exchange for giving his wife a chance to meet lead actor Robert Redford.
    To his dismay, on the day of the shoot, he discovered that someone had just grease-penned some mockup slides to make it look more "authentic."
    He said something like, "If I'd known thats what they wanted, I could have handed something over in a few minutes. And it'd be correct!"
