I was thinking the locked on cruise control would put up a big enough fight that the handbrake would be all but useless, but perhaps not. I had been thinking about a CVT for my next car, I'll make sure to do a lot more research on the ability to disengage the drive-train.
Well, I would think using a hand break while a front wheel drive car is trying to maintain highway speeds is probably a recipe for disaster.
The article does make it seem the driver did try a few obvious ways of disengaging the engine. I just find it hard to believe, and scary, that they make cars with out some fail-safe, mechanical way of disengaging the engine.
Every time I see one of these stories I wonder, what about shifting to Neutral. I only drive standard, so am not sure, but don't Automatics still have a Neutral setting for the transmission, or are these drivers in need of another round of drivers ed?
Quite a few people are unaware of the date line?
Your article is from 1919.
I think/hope most people have some grasp of the roundness of the earth nowadays.
I can tell you hundreds of companies that have licensed Sharepoint for all their employees and no one in the company knows that it even exists.
Many small businesses run and Exchange server. In many cases the cheapest way to get an exchange server is to get an SBS license which wouldn't you know it includes Sharepoint licenses. These companies only want outlook to work, they have no interest in the other bits that come with SBS.
Although it could lead to disaster the other option is to give up an die now. I think most people would take a risk in the future risk vs certain death now.
Also, it's not that hard to wear a medalert or other sign, even a tattoo.
I read the rant, I read the comments and I visited his homepage. Who the hell is Zed and why does he think I use his software?
And maybe it's just me but I often mention the supporting software and services used to create/ maintain a project, we even donate moneys through various channels to help support the OSS we use.
As much as the comment is funny, it is also dam insightful. Same shit, different package. And as much as new packaging can be useful, it is rarely revolutionary.
A number of those questions are pressing to these people. Paddy farming seems obvious to me. Train schedules, well, it is probably best to arrive at the train station on the right day, so as not to waste a week waiting for the train. knowing Commodity prices would also be fairly important for making farm decisions. I am generally suspicious of high tech going in places where it would be over kill, but I don;t think this is one of those times. This does seem like it is a good match of effort spent/value provided

"Getting the same result" maybe more that just the output, say like resources consumed - time take.
Just as accurate, and far less intrusive than anything the DHS has come up with.
I also do not want to be involved in any false teeth oral sex. Whats the median age for false teeth again?
I think in this particular case having to posting the rather obvious reference link is more funny than insightful.
Call me old and grumpy but I think Emacs had enough features when they got the kitchen sink in it.
I happen to really like that combination when I'm programming, freaks the marketing types out.
Those satellites point at earth, not Mars.
