Anyone going to apply the same pressure to ALL the other computer/phone companies that use the same facilities? I know Slashdot has a extreme anti-Apple bias, but does it blind you to the obvious? The computer you're using right now has parts that were made by Foxconn.

I seriously doubt you'll get much more battery life out of any modern smartphone - at least without disabling most of what makes it "smart" If you really do want to disable 3G, go into Settings>General>Network>Enable 3G

There are several programs that can do the same thing iTunes does (see the open-source program Banshee for example) ALAC does the same thing FLAC does, and no one outside of a few neckbeards used Ogg for anything.

Actually, my iPod 5G works just fine on my netbook which is running Mint. Banshee does a capable job.
