I did my undegraduate in CS and now, 10 years later, I'm doing my Masters in CS. I thought about doing an MBA, but honestly, it just seemed to boring and "work" like. I'm doing my MS in CS now and loving every minute.
If I had gone with the MBA route, I think it just would have been hell.
Thinkgeek.com has a lot of stuff to make your office your own. I personally have the binary clock work tends to freak people out, but I think it's cool.
I actually posed this question to the/. community on what types of cool stuff they are growing at work. Based upon their suggestions, I started a few jalapeno plants which already have 2 leaves a piece.
power it up? He didn't post any screenshots of thing running windoze or linux.
I'm a big fan of Kevin, but this only confirms my point is that he is a wannabe hacker. Most of his segments on G4 are things he reproduced by finding on the internet [as is much I suppose].
The problem with his latest hack, is that it's not even elegant. Leaving out the cdrom negates the entire point of this project.
I wonder what the back looks like, with the caes... I'm sure it looks like something I did in woodshop in 5th grade with dull chisel.
... a meeting is being held about a new threat to the Chinese government. Not much is known about this person, but we do know his name.. Coward, Anonymous Coward.
Does this mean you are not going to send me the detailed plans of their secret weapon's facility as we agreed upon? If not, Ill transfer the money back out of the swiss account
The person that mod'd this informative obviously didn't bother to read the links [classic/.]
His analogy of "had the people kneel and put a bullet" link to a serial killer that killed 8 women in 1980's is absurd. This guy has had more appeals than a banana farm! It's not like we found him and executed him on the side of the road with the due process of law.
I still use my Audrey! It's great for displaying recipes while cooking, seeing who called recently, checking the weather or to start playing mp3's through my home stereo.
Actually, I had one of these, but when we moved offices, I had to bring it home... of course, I forgot and left in the car and the thing froze solid and killed my little shrimpies!
To recharge it is almost as expensive as buying a new one so I'm going to try to "recharge" it myself.
Remember to always have at least 12 pieces of flare on at all times. Of course, that could cause a fire so you probably would want to carry around some water.
You're right, I should have used flair. At least I used the correct "you're" in this post.
here here! I wish I could rate this ENTIRE article as FLAMEBAIT.
We know why you're doing it/. Nothing drives more traffic to the site than some heating political debate. I understand that you have server fees to pay for and people's salaries, but can you think of something else? What happened to go the old days of linux vs microsoft?!?!?!
I'm not sure why the post ^above^ would be rated as insightful. Perhaps the bigger problem is giving out mod points to registered/. users.
Anyway, I think original poster has a good point. If the gov't would take the time to tap phones and email, then chances are they are onto something which could potentially save lives. It doesn't intrude in my life in anyway. Hell, I bet there are people at AOL listening to my AIM conversations every day.
Laf, good point. I dont know why this is even considered "new" news. Any touch screen system can be made to "recognize handwriting". Perhaps if it was converting speech to text, then this would be news worthy. Or leavea voicemail and it will automatically be converted to text and emailed to the person.. now that's cool!
No offense calling your baby klunky. My point is that the iPod is almost like a fashion accessory these days. Even my wife, who doesn't care 2 shits about technology, could spot an iPod 100m away.
Also, the article you mention is from someone that does NOT want to be recogonized by their iPod.. I would guess that's the minority.
Regarless, I would go with an Archos like device myself... of course, I'm too lazy to carry around a phone AND a mp3 player... That's why I'm waiting for the king-of-all-devices
I think that with the evolution of the iPod, photos will be part product and not considered a "must have extra". Future version of iPods will naturally progress to the color screen.. after all, everyone loves color... even if it's only making the band name red. These days, color screens are cheap too... every damn phone you buy has at least 2 these days.
You also forgot an important feature.. the iPod will display the CD cover while the song is playing... pretty cool if you ask me.
How much you want to bet that their next product has embedded bluetooth or wifi? At least for transfering the photos.. not sure if it's legal to do that with mp3s.
What's funny is that I don't even have an iPod or a mac, but I'm really excited about this new iPlod. Weird or just good marketing.

Awesome, simply awesome post!

This is the simple menu I created for my Audrey:

/. accepted my story idea!
Thankfully I didn't use any links to my homepage-- that would have been really stupid and costly [ignore the links in my signature!]
So how long do you think Kevin and Sarah have before they are fired?
> * Vertigo
So it's not compatible with the U2 iPod?
You must forgive him, that's culmination of years of brainwashing.
Shhhhh.. don't spoil it for all the Mac crazed fans. This the day they have been waiting for all year.
Repeat after me... flash based mp3 players without a screen and shaped like a tampon are rev-o-lu-tion-ary

Looks like you drop a few fps when running the 32bit games in a 64bit os. I wonder if new nvidia drivers would make it as fast or faster though...

very true.
Who would have known that consumers would flock to the stark white and simple controls of the iPod like a moth to a flame.. well, I guess Steve did.
