  1. World of Tanks anyone? on Ask Slashdot: What Games Are You Playing? · · Score: 1

It's free, it's fun and it requires little more than a few minutes for each battle.
That means that I can play for 10 minutes or one hour, all depending on my free time.
I've been playing on average half an hour every day for the past year and I'm now on the tier VIII vehicles, still a long road for the top tanks in the game, but that's the beauty of it, you can go at your own pace.

  2. Could not replicate (as many others can't) on iOS 7 Lock Screen Bug Leaves Certain Apps Vulnerable For Access · · Score: 0

    I'm using IOS 7.0 (11A465) on a iPhone 4S.
I've tried to do the hack for half an hour and the phone will never bypass the lock.
There was also a rumor about taking a picture then sharing it thus accessing your contacts, but then again that is not true. The phone will not allow you to share or send a picture until it's lock has been removed.
People are getting this truly out of proportion, why do they care so much about the locking ability of a phone?
If I was a thief and I really wanted your data/phone, I would just start breaking your fingers until you gave it all.
If you are truly the paranoid kind, why do you keep a smartphone in the first place?

  4. We just let it slip away, simple. on Ask Slashdot: How Do You Deal With Priorities Inflation In IT Projects? · · Score: 1

Most of our projects are irrealistic, so after a roll of preventive measures we just gave up...

    Measures attempted:

New priority levels - We moved from 3 priority levels to 5. Everybody kept using the highest available...
Re-Evaluation of requests by an independent team - Time lost in the team = time lost in delivery...
Mandatory rule book for project requests, namely better designed requests - Administration kept ignoring the rules and we could do nothing about it...

    And the list goes on.

  6. Job Change FTW on Promotion Or Job Change: Which Is the Best Way To Advance In IT? · · Score: 1

Truly, job change has been the pivotal point in my career. Every time I change company (willingly) I get a promotion and a pay rise, only exception was when I delivered my resignation and my current company made me a generous counter-offer to keep me (I stayed). If I hadn't delivered my resignation I would still be doing the same thing for the same salary, few companies that I know promote inside people, most prefer to pick an outsider... :(

  7. Got a mail with new VPN passwords after I left on 10% of IT Pros Can Access Previous Jobs' Accounts · · Score: 1

Before leaving my company, I implemented a forward rule on my mail account so I would get any new mails untill the account was closed. I had lots of contacts and there is always someone who isn't aware that we left, that way I could warn anyone who mailed me.
To my complete surprise, 3 months after leaving I received a user and password for the VPN network which allowed me to log in to the corporate network and do whatever I pleased.
Why, you ask? Well they hired someone with the same name as me (first and last) and instead of deleting my account and creating a new one, they just reset the password and gave him my old account.
If I hadn't warned the IT Staff at my old company to remove the forward rule, I would still have access to everything...

Wing Commander was and his a great game. The story line did got a bit cheesy, it looked like a Sopa Opera towards the end, but it was fun, it was great and it even had Mark Hamil. 19. Windows will endure. on Chrome OS Designed To Start Microsoft Death Spiral · · Score: 1, Insightful

Truth is Windows will be around for a long long time, even if not on the home business, there is just too many corporations relying on windows for it to sink. I do believe the user base at home will decline heavily (Free Product vs Highly priced crap), but the corporate business wont trust a Google OS for many years to come. Big companies (Banks specially, I work at one) are very slow adopters.

The one on the English Wiki was removed a few minutes after I wrote it and I received a friendly warning from the editor, something on the lines of "I laughed a lot with your entry, but I cant allow it, since its bogus".

The most spoken languages in the world are:

So I would go with Chinese (if you are interested in foreign new markets) or Spanish/Portuguese (since if you learn one, the other is very similar). I personally speak French, Spanish, English and Portuguese (Native from Portugal). It may be true that Spanish in the EU is only spoken in Spain, but it's widely spoken in the Americas.
