As a dedicated member of the Windows Mobile community I would like to apologize for the fact that you have had to use a HTC 6700. HTC makes wonderful phones now based on Windows Mobile 6.1::Hugs his HTC Touch Diamond::, but that 6700 was a horrible horrible beast. It was slow, felt bulky, buggy (that is more of an early WM5 issue) and really was a PDA they slapped a phone on. Please don't assume all WM phones are the like that thing.
You can install apps that aren't blessed by the Hand of Steve. This app might not stay on the store, but it sure won't go away...now where is my Windows Mobile version?
I love 8.10 on my Dell Mini 9 w/ Ubuntu Netbook Remix. The only thing I need still is to be able to use my Windows Mobile Phone as a modem over bluetooth (currently USB only).
I have a Dell Mini 9 that I run stock Ubuntu 8.10 + the Netbook Remix interface on and love it. There is a good 3-4GB left on the 8GB SSD even with OpenOffice 3 and a few other bigger apps.
Better context of this statement from the article would help. Because obviously single page renders are darn snappy (atleast on my Dell Mini 9 + Ubuntu 8.10). Do we have exact details on what pages they were trying to render in sequence to back your claim?
My DVR knows very well. It is a Dish VIP622 and I can turn each of its tuners off. All I loss is the ability to rewind when I first turn the tuner back on (since it only queues up what I am watching from then on).
The Unreal 3 engine and others happy put two cores to use. On top of that you still have OS processes and services running while you are gaming (unless you are playing some hot old DOS games off a boot floppy!). While I agree that for a "budget" style PC quad core is way over kill, dual core is far from being a silly investment. Once you consider the cost of a AMD Athlon X2 or something it is a no brainer.
"I hear the "cell phone" elsewhere in the world is capable of so much more than simply making calls and texting, which are the bulk of what we use cell phones for over here."
My cell phone call place calls, text, get emails, browse the web, ssh to a server, stream Sirius from their site, play Minesweeper...
So how exactly do us North American's have more gimped phones?
(now our cost of services might suck...I honestly have no idea, but our phones are just as capable as any others)
I have a real urge to call them to let them know their warranty is about to expire...
No matter how hard I try...I can't get my three year old to not call it "My ranus"...
Or you know...you could just go install Skype yourself.
Does he have a dog? Maybe a...doyathinkhesaurus REX!

We are getting ready to go back to the Moon on 60's era technology...why should the military be any differnet?
Yes.
I am sooo close to 5 digit...
Realize that the size of your penis has nothing to do with the size of your Netbook. Really...this is what people worry about?
Google is smarter than I am anyways...so that works for me.

I just downloaded IE8 in Firefox 3.1b3...did the world implode?
Sounds to me like you need an HTC Windows Mobile phone (hugs Touch Diamond...)

Thanks jerk...

They are trying to promote dark skies (which of course show some amazing celestial bodies) by showing how pretty of a red sky light pollution makes???

Most likely some kind of hidden Red Planet joke...but then again...it isn't so well hidden now is it?

No DSL provider in your area that does dial tone free DSL? That is what I do (via AT&T)

So leave Comcast and get some decent hardware. Might I recommend Dish Network and the DVR722 receiver?
