Really? I thought the new xconfig was one of the thing that was really nice about the new kernel. If you don't like it, you could always do make gconfig, to get the gtk version.
I was running 2.4.x with the Con Kolivas patches, so I didn't notice the speed difference between the two kernels, but still preferred the 2.6 one because I like to test out the udev stuff.
My understanding is that he's working on qmail 2.0 right now. He was a little distracted, because he wanted to write the dns software, djbdns, first (lots of the software in djbdns will be reused in qmail).
He's taking time-off from teaching to write more software, and taking donations to help with the process.
There is something about actually seeing the person you are talking with.
When I lived in the Bayarea, and my parents were in Norway, videoconferencing made it much easier for my mother.
And video phones shouldn't be that hard to implement, would it? Just send a request over the line, to see if the receiver support some std protocol, and if not use voice only, otherwise, turn on camera if allowed...
I support open source, but come on guys, would you really want Linux supporting your nuclear arsonal? Or anything else to do with Bombs? Not _all_ closed source is bad, just because you don't like microsoft.
I want whoever controls my nuclear arsenal to have the source and expertise to the software they use, so that they can fix it themselves. I'm almost certain that the military and org. like NASA get the source to the software they use. And then the question becomes, how is that not open source?
with my linux box and mac i can do whatever i want - including open attachments... i bought a computer so i could use it.
To be infected by MyDoom, you would have to open the attachment and run the binary.
if you mean, "can i fire up an mta and start spraying email all over creation"? then the answer is only if you have root. and if that virus has root... well, you've got bigger problems.
Eh, no. You don't have to be root to "spray email all over creation". Outgoing connections usually use unprivileged ports. And to accept incoming connection without root, you just need to listen to a port above 1024.
I think UPN actually has an option to do Firefly. They are producing (or whatever movie companies do) Firefly: The Movie. I'm guessing if the movie does well, they might opt for the tv show.
First time the US army met the German army, the US army lost (in North Africa). After that battle, the Allied commanders always made sure that they had at least 2-1 superiority in manpower and firepower.
If you run 2.6.0 with Sony Vaio laptop, there are som sound and mouse problems (some timing issues). And pci pnp doesn't work. Just downloaded 2.6.1, and pci pnp still doesn't work. Still playing around with sound and mouse.
I'm not an American (Norwegian if you must know), but I have worked in Silicon Valley. Like the saying goes, it's not the size, but the quality. Yes, the best engineers in India is probably comparable to the best in the US and the rest of the world, but I find that the average engineer in India is worse than the average in the US.
Keep the "open this search result in a new window" link when you do; it's the major reason I search (nearly) exclusively with Yahoo! and almost rarely use plain Google.
??? I've been doing this forever in "plain Google". Just get a browser that actually support this feature (Mozilla, Opera, Konqueror).
Looks more like Slashdot timeline, especially if January is any indication. I mean, what does Lexmark filing a DMCA suit against Smartek have to do with Linux? Or Jon Johanssen (writer of a Windows GUI for DeCSS)? Sonny Bono copyright extension case? MS-SQL worm?
She died during Empire.
If you're going emerge precompiled binaries, what's the point in using Gentoo? Why not use a system that has a pretty frigging great packaging system.
Seems to me, THE reason to use Gentoo is to build everything from source so it is optimized for your system.
FYI, the one I have installed on my system is
v3.0-pre9-1. It's the latest in testing, I think.
Did you install modules-init-tool? My /etc/modules get read at bootup (running 2.6.3).
the new make xconfig was annoying to work with

krone, not krona. :)
Not to be pedantic or anything
KDE - no modem applet for single click "connect/disconnect to internet?" like gnome.
What do you call kppp?
That's not FSF's position. They believe ALL software published should be Free Software.
Platform of his choosing? DVD-Jon wrote a Windows GUI for DeCSS in VisualBasic.

I think Fox has given up all rights to Firefly.

GNU/Debian 4.0? Windows XP is going to be ancient by then, and Windows NG (2019) will be out by then.
You mean the Angels?

I wonder if djbdns can use SPF records.
From what I can see of SPF, it's just a matter of setting up the TXT record in DNS.
rbldns does it in djbdns.
I'm sorry, but so what?

Where are the ESR predictions? The new year isn't the same without ESR proclaiming that Microsoft will fall within six months.

Code against QT, and you can get it running on Windows, Mac...
Sounds like the game Homeworld
