They get fined every year for copyright violation, generally 10-15 grand. There was a huge sting last semester. They don't care, they can make it back in a few months.
There's another place off parc and sherbrooke that's well known by mcgill students. Ah, piracy...
A true geek is always connected. The price of cellular internet has come down, and the speeds are going up, to the point where its feasible for full time use.
Actually, its covered in season five of DS9, the episode "Trials and Tribble-ations".
The DS9 crew end up in station K7 at the time Kirk is discovering poisoned grain. The conversation reagrding Klingons goes something like this:
Odo: Klingons?
Waitress: Over there... and over there.
(Points to TOS Klingons drinking)
Bashir: Those are Klingons??
Waitress: All right, you boys have had enough.
(Everyone turns to look at Worf.)
Odo: Mr Worf?
Worf: They are Klingons. And it is a long story.
O'Brien: What happened? Some kind of genetic engineering?
Bashir: A viral mutation?
Worf: We do not discuss it with outsiders.
The printed word, printed on stable paper in stable inks, will last centuries. The only "hardware" required to use it is decent lighting and possibly a translation dictionary. If you want to preserve your data, the simplest ways are still best.
My v770 is still running graphics in my sister's P3, and its more than powerful enough for her photoshoppery. Wonder why diamond doesn't sell the viper line anymore...
I had the same problems, and decided to go with DVD+RW (Just for video, not data storage.) Dual format burners are coming down in price, too, so you don't have to settle for one side.
Funny, using GPRS on microcell when in the states doesn't incur any additional roaming charges.. 3 cents a kb, or flat rates for x megs of transfer, or unlimited use for $50, anywhere in north america. and voice roaming in the states is only 20 cents a minute. If you travel a lot you might want to switch, the international roaming is amazingly cheap
(I used to have a cingular line just for use in the US, because telus roaming was so high. Not anymore.)
Maybe if we turn over the internet to an international organization, some of the americo-centricism will drop. Hey, maybe the american government will be forced to.gov.us, to match all the other countries in the world!

ESL (or third, or fourth) doesn't imply a poor grasp of the language. Many polyglots will pass for fluent in most of their languages.
Well, that was the last time I eat while reading slashdot...

Only 175 days till the olson twins turn legal, actually.
