    I live in New Zealand, which has 1 of the slowest internet speeds overall in the entire OECD.

    And boy, does this is impact on me. I still find myself stopping pages from loading all the time due to not being able to wait.

    Maybe I'm just jaded, but there are very, very few examples of edutainment that kids actually like playing. When I was young, Zoombinis was great to play at school, but that was about it.

    To be fair, I disapprove more with the use of VG as a recuitment tool, ala America's Army. Training purposes isn't as socially irresponsible.

    Usually what I get are just suggestions not to go on sensitive sites [like banking] while out and about. That's the safest, I suppose.

    I think a lot of people are still uncomfortable with the concept of paying for games/music/etc without having anything physical to show for it. Especially late adopters [like me].

    Frankly, if the price is right [as in free, or cheap], why not go open?

    Also open allows for projects that traditional developers would never touch.
