Ever worked on a contract where the requirements are spelled out? I'm betting you haven't.
The word "should" is implied everywhere. The word "should" means "will do this or will violate the contract" not "may if you want".
Previous posters were talking about a standards document, not a contract.
Most standards documents define exactly what "should" means or point to a document that does.
I haven't read this standard, but I'd be stunned if you were right.
That's an interesting connection. But I believe they were such pricks because network executives like to look like they're doing something. Either that or they had no reason at all.
I agree that the Republican's bent their platform to include pro-lifers and the religious right. And think about this: How hard has the GOP tried to "fix" those issues?
If they actually managed to outlaw abortion, they'd risk loosing a portion of that voting block. Those one-issue types would move on to their next top issue unless they feared the Dems reversing things.
Because of these religious issues, the "Red" states are full of poor people voting for the party that consistently helps the rich.
Its always irked me that TiVo would charge you to use a device that you purchased legally.
I get so tired of this argument.
The vast majority of Americans prefer to pay over time.
Do you think a Tivo only costs $100 (or $0 after some rebate combinations) to make?
Do you think that cell phones are really free?
Like you, I dislike recurring fees. So I considered the lifetime subscription as part of the cost of the box.
The break even point was less than two years and I passed that a long time ago.
Tivo gives you a choice of pay up front or pay for service. But some people would rather complain about one choice than take the other.
MythFrontend is already a first-class Mac application.
Good to know. I'm building my backend box now. But no way this has the horsepower to decode HD mpeg 2 streams. That's the reason I'm going Myth instead of sticking with my Tivo.
Someone needs to merge the Mac Myth frontend with the firewire output. No decoding necessary. (There is a Mac app somewhere that acts like a DVHS player and can drive TVs with firewire input. This can't be done with Linux yet.)
I've been a Mandrake user for several years, but they're getting too tricky for my taste.
How many Mandrake lines are there now, some of which differ in download and purchase form?
Today I discovered that my 3-CD 10.1 Official didn't have flex, bison, or rsh-server packages. They're on the 4th CD, which you can't download for free.
Yes, there were many ways to solve this problem. But I consider these standard elements that should be on the CDs. My next upgrade will probably be to a different distro.

Sounds like a dream! The large company I work at is full of people who have been hiding for years :(

Yeah, 1.0.3 on XP. I can't RTFA!
Things I type (and complete with the browser history). It's faster than moving the mouse anyway.
A couple of dozen items on my MyYahoo home page.

(Paraphrasing Larry Niven.)
Pickings are slim for Tribes 2 servers nowadays. I keep hoping I'll find out about some alternative server lists somewhere....
Tribes Vengance was very much like UT2004.
Tribes 2, however, was fairly unique, IMO
Dick Goodness.
Come get some baby!
Always with the negative waves, Moriarity. Always with the negative waves.
They're just words. They mean the exact same thing as the word they're replacing. The meaning comes through.

Great if you don't want to wear your multitool on your belt.
"The R Strain", a sf story by Harry Turtledove, dealt with just this.

And an old laptop with TV out is a quickly realized, small, quiet implementation. All you'll need is a little homebrew IR receiver.
The local library has DVDs too.
