New technology is great but it would be even better if congress would stop shoving this stuff down our throats.
Sorry, but don't quite agree.
I'm a gearhead car enthusiast, old enough to remember the real crap they were building in the 80s and early 90s. The Auto companies all moaned and pissed about Congress shoving rules down their throats and that 1) they couldn't built them at all that way, 2) te cars would be so expensive nobody would buy them3)the stuff wouldn't work anyway.
Fast forward and there are cars built today that are better, and faster than even those cars in the Golden Muscle car 60s.
Sometimes industry needs a push
I am one of those "old people" but I don't bitch.
My comtemporaries though do, I agree. They're still bitching about CFLs replacing the Edison incandescant.
Me? I have LEDs all over the house. Love 'em, in fact. Some of the fixtures I built myself, but then again, to live is to hack.
First of all, most of those "billionaire dropouts" were dropouts from Ivy League schools with plenty of startup money from daddy already at their disposal, not dipshits coming out of no-name-high-school. Secondly, most of them only left college when they already had contacts and solid plans (and financing) in place for starting their own businesses. They didn't need degrees because they were going to be hiring *themselves*, not having to worry about some HR department that will toss any non-degree applicants right into the trash.
For most of the non-rich, non-Ivy League assholes like the rest of us--we still need a college degree if we're going to get beyond the front door to any stable job. We're not Mark Zuckerberg or Bill Gates.
Oh, I don't know.
I'm not rich by any means. Came from very poor beginnings, went to college and got a professional degree and became moddle class at best.
Had four sons. First two went to college, professional degrees, maintained that middle clas standard. The last two however, started in community college and discovered they were just wasting their time. Number three became an electrician, with a salary better than the two pros (and myself) and went into busiess for himself. Just bought a Ferrari ( used, but crap, I couldn't afford it) . Number four got a city job in Sanitation dept. Made enough money with overtimes and whatevers to make home brewing a hobby, an expensive hobby as it turned out. So expensive that to maintain the hobby, he opened up a brew pub, and just loaned son #2 money for a house.
Do you need college to succeed ? NFW ! Sometimes it ( as do wealthy 'rents) makes it easier, but not needed in the least.
Not for nothin', but months ago I posted that MS & other console makers should be worried, "cuz Ouya gonna getcha'". And that post got modded +5 Comedian.
I am waiting for my apology...
Don't worry. t least according to what I saw on Seinfeld, a Comedian is a person of great sexual prowess.
I don't know what the problem is, when I was 7 I was pretty good at setting up PCs as well. I actually made a fair bit of spare cash doing it for friends and neighbors.
By Apple's assumptive logic, that means that Apple is against the free market and fair competition.
No, no, no ! Problem is that Apple's lawyers haven't found anything they can hang a lawsuit on...yet
I'm disappointed that the author didn't press charges. This kid is probably a sociopath. When he stalks and hurts other people in the future the police won't have the evidence they need of past cases. Sociopaths don't learn how to stop hurting people, they just learn not to get caught the next time.
AFAIK, doesn't seem to be much difference with a kid who tortures dogs and cats and this. Both seem dangerously close to growing up to be outright sociopaths.
Isn't this how the Ansible from Ender's Game works? Two particles made to be in the exact same state, despite being physically separated? Too bad we couldn't have put this type of technology on Voyager 1 and 2.
... google taking it down wouldn't help at this point.
And why should they?
Jokes about Jesus. No problem.
Scientology? No Problem.
Judaism ? No Problem.
Catholicism ? No Problem.
Druids/ well Druids, okay.
Islam? They can kiss my great big, hairy, lily white, ass.
I recently tried to sell a 2001 vehicle with a manual transmission. For every interested buyer I probably encountered three or four who were no longer interested as soon as I mentioned that it had a manual transmission.
So 3 or 4 out of five interested buyers couldn't read English and therefore didn't see "manual" in the car ad? Who are you targetting, recent immigrants?
This is an opinion from a supposed "tech expert"? Someone who is supposed to have a drawer full of tools and knows how to use them all?
This is like a carpenter saying : "I think those new screws are perfect, really, but at the end of the day use only nails, because you can pull them out easily"
Hogwash
Anecdotal of course, but I just switched from an iPhone to a Samsung. Knowledge of the potential injunction played a small but not insignificant part, though mostly it was a price vs functionality decision. The Samsung was just the better deal.
Among my wife and I, my 4 sons, their wives and at least one child per son, all having phones, and all going from iOs to Android because of better value, how anecdotal do you you want to get?
AMIR EFRATI
That's not a name. That's a bad scrabble hand.
you sir, are a moron

This is how the Twinkie succeeded

If all hammers were the same price, I'd pick the sledge hammer.
Not a paleontologist, then.
or a neurologist

Maybe he's never read a book printed in English either

Captain Janeway could have used it
Right now storage is electrical to chemical batteries. Maybe TATA's air powered engine is a better idea, at least in the interim.
But how can you be sure?
Nuke 'em from orbit, only way to be sure.

...and the coverage in the news. Here is a nice story on how people react on the verdict.
