I live in the South near the U.S border in a relatively small community. Recently we were told that we are getting fibre. This is good for the 4,000 people who live IN the community but yet less than 0.5mi down the road from where I live the only viable option is Satellite or some other form of P2P connection.
Infrastructure could easily push to these areas but yet they chose not to and leave a chunk of people unable to get any sort of decent connection. No DSL, Cable, or fibre.
Heck I can get faster speeds on my LTE device than my friend down the road gets on his crappy satellite connection (and I get more Gigs too).
There were attempts to lay fibre up north in Canada but teams gave up and contracts expire due to expense, brutal working conditions, and narrow time frames to work in. I can't imagine its easy to push fibre through permafrost or muskeg.

This is next weeks episode of CSI:CYBER - they're looking for opinions to see if they can improve realism. Or maybe its a story board for Scorpion. Either way - mildly entertaining.;P
I would think that this day in age it would be more apropos to do iAtHash... but that gives the allusion of iAssHat... but still seemingly appropriate.
So Doc Brown is going to bring us the MR Fusion Upgrade -- supposed to have taken place in 2012. Maybe India could use the MR Fusion to power their new Super Computer?? It would kill 2 birds with 1 stone...........Just sayin.
I cant help but think to myself ----- "these are not the droids you are looking for" -- Honestly too weird for me hackers, no hackers, makes no nevermind to me.
Why not get Zalman to create the worlds largest heat sync and place it on top of the volcano -- combined with geothermal-tech you could effectively cool down the core of the volcano and harness some pretty good energies from it too.

Just an FYI currently where I am at (southern Alberta, just outside of Lethbridge). I am maxed out at 3Mbps down on a good day when my DSL isn't bottlenecked from the DSLAM. On average I get about 1.7Mbps with 120ms Ping to most places.
The DAILY WTF ought to be called the SOMETIMES DAILY WTF..... hasn't been regular in a while and they've been doing a crapload of reposting lately. Good times tho; some really interesting stories at that.
I enjoy playing games for both Single and Multiplayer -- which is why i'm drawn towards games like TF / TF2 and CoD etc... The only trouble i'm finding these days is the danged game hackers. Wall hacks, aimbots, modded lobbies all make life more frustrating when i'm just wanting a challenging experience playing someone else on a somewhat level field of play.
It's reassuring to know that there is a 1:1 relationship between devices and mac addresses and that each device in the world that requires a mac address has its own very unique mac and that there is no duplication. Heaven forbid the calamity that should arise if there was any duplication at all.
I guess thats why i can plug into my car with my acer laptop and a few bits and pieces bought from Radio Shack and get a connection to change things such as braking, lights, and air bag deployment? Secure it is my friend...secure it is.
its worse when you get one stuck in your butt crack cuz you happen to be showing off your plumber (don't ask -- just know its very very uncomfortable).
Everything must go -- FIRE SALE!! bwah-- all of this cyberterror **it reminds of a stupid movie with stupid actors running around trying to stop the CYBER bully from taking control of the U.S!!!
Get off my lawn and go away with the CyberTerror CRAP!
If they are travelling from Alaska they can stop between Hyder and Smithers and plug into the rear of some random moose. In all seriousness tho there are stretches of that Hi-way where there is nothing but trees. As for houses you have the old draft dodgers that took their trailers up there and squatted on random land -- so now you have trailers that have been added on to with more trailers and even attached to mobile homes (quite odd indeed to see). But, still no power.
I would hate to see what would happen if that care struck a Northern BC Moose.
I may not be able to check it out but at least its printed and I can read it....There are thousands of documents that are to be imaged and tell me...how many of them are we able to get a copy of to read and peruse?
They are missing a fairly dirty job in IT... Help Desk / Service Desk / Catch All Desk / fix it its not working desk..... Spend a year here and see what you think of your sanity and cleanliness after. Most of these people wouldn't know about network problems or pr0n infesting spyware unless the Help Desk dealt with it first.
What does the agreement look like that the students / parents signed when the devices were loaned? Is there any fine print about monitoring the device for safety or that there are measures in place to check on the safety of the device etc etc etc.... not to undermine the seriousness of the situation as i'd be seriously peeved if someone had turned on the webcam / microphone etc on my kids loaner laptop.

This router is very ...... enlightening..... I wonder how light it is... Is it going to be light on the pocket book too when it comes out?
I for one welcome our new alien communication overlords.

Still far above infoworlds' ad riddled pages.
God called - - he asked if you could stop peeking while He's taking a bath. Thanks.
This gives a whole new meaning to using STDIN and STDERR for STREAM Capture eh?

I learned how to drive by playing uberous amounts of Mario Kart -- I always keep a wary eye out for Banana peels and green shells.....
