    You don't need to pay the cost of air-conditioning if you choose to buy your car without then.

    But with a new PC, you pay the Windows licence cost even you choose to not get the PC with then.

    Is because a Windows licence costs a reasonable amount of money... Why you will pay $50 for one system you will not use? And on my country, you need to pay at least $100 ,or more, for the "onboard" Vista (more or less R$200 reais), is a lot of money.

    Crappy/lie/irritant ad = Blocked.

    If the site don't like this, try to make better ads (static image, no lies about the service or product) or announces better products.

    Is not enougth the crappy flash or gif-animated ad. Who will click on ad that annouces a thing like "winantivirus" (know rogueware) or crap like "win one million!!! click here now!!!" (scam site or worst)?


    Nobody likes lying propaganda, simple that. This is why 90% (or more) of ads are blocked or ignored.

    You got the point. Nobody likes a ad about a dubious/questionable product and/or service using irritant flash/gif animation. On my desktop, all ads like this are blocked without questions.

    They need you see and click on theirs ads? Announces a interesting product and not obvious crap. Ads about junk = auto block.

    Well, I used the 7 RC1 and I need to agree they is fast, a LOT faster than Vista and seens to have a "magic trick" to load faster the applications. But the memory usage is still to much for me, 1GB only for system on a PC with 4GB without any user aplications loaded.

    For me, the biggest problem from SSD is the price (on Brazil, you pay two to three times the US price) and off course, the write cicles limit too. But, if they can be cheaper, maybe now I can consider a SSD to "system" partition.

    Is like Java. If you like to use CSS to draw the GUI, you need the complete CSS rendering system (load the interpreter/VM), and plus the HTML rendering engine(load framework). Is pointless to do this if you can make the GUI using native (and much faster than html can do) language.

    I know you can make a html-based desktop... But the problem is - again - the resources usage.

    Or, into another terms: Why you will use 300MB for your super-duper html/css/ajax/etc based desktop if a simmilar using C or C++ uses only 50MB to do the same job and faster? Got it?

    I will not use so much memory to the job only "because RAM is now cheap!".

    They have a point. I are a web developer, and is almost impossible to create a desktop-like interface on html without causing a major slowdown. As you sayed you have a $2000+ machine, but you try to use a "web-based interface" with antivirus running, messenger running, Servers running and maybe a game or a CPU-intensive application like 3D rendering? Why I will use 1GB or more and a dual or quad-core CPU to simply run my desktop? Is nonsense.

    Correct. Here my ISP now have a "10Mbps" plan for more or less US$20/month, as "promotion".

    But, the real price from plan is more or less US$120, and in pratice you get only 1Mbps after one or two Months, if you are lucky. Is only to say "Look! my link is bigger than the others ISPs, buy it now!". But is a lie.

    The problem is still the DRM. I agree the Windows 7 is better than Vista, but you will use a OS with a "feature" like "you are using a MP3, the system will delete then and self-destruct in ten seconds"?

    You need to trust your OS, and windows 7 is not yet to be trusted.
