>>If you were to travel the world today I think you might find more people hate you than like you just because you're American. They really hate George W. Bush, but they pretty much have to hate you to because your letting him trample the world while your getting drunk at the bowling alley, pretending everything is wonderful in the world and cheering him on.
So somebody hating me because I'm American is OK, but me hating some hypothetical person from [insert country here] is bad? Also, perhaps people should take the time to learn how a Constitutional Republic works. Decisions are made, and then we go back and take a look to see if those decisions were good ones (so we vote for the guy in Nov) and/ or legal (where the SCOTUS shoots it down or not).
What exactly is all this talk about Han shooting first? I read about it here all the time but I've never been able to figure out what people are talking about.
It wouldn't have to happen so much if the state gov'ts of our eastern and southern neighbors didn't suck so bad (but Vermont's ok, and thanks for Killington!).
Car registration isn't a tax, it's a fee. And, its put towards the state roads. Wouldn't it therefore make sense that people who use the service pay for it, and people who don't use it as much don't pay as much?
They can certainly influence the civic ones, of which speeding is an offense.
Besides, not sure if this is a chicken/egg or if this is a causational/ correlational issue, but ever notice the "natural" speed of a road is about 10 MPH over the limit, and 10 MPH over is where the fines are actually worth giving out?
According to a book I read (posting from work, book at home, take with large grain of salt), most of the land (85%?) was owned by absentee landlords in Turkey.
However, I agree. If Israel would stop using the wall idea to grab land and the Palestinians would stop blowing themselves up, maybe they could accomplish something.
I know people who gamble because it's fun, knowing damn well they're going to lose their money. They're paying the casino (ie, losing) for a few hours and being entertained. And they keep going back, because they love it. Isn't gambling supposed to be about fun? (From someone who's too much of a wuss to gamble.)
No, this is not true. In Europe we pretty much switched overnight from liking and respecting the US to despising it as a result of Bush's response to the terrorist attack in New York.
If you switched overnight, as you say, did you ever really like the US that much? I mean, if I go from being someone's friend one day to their "enemy" the next, were we ever really friends?

All we have is our personal preferences and better-than-you attitudes.
But it doesn't mean we're wrong... it just means we're not the best choice for a company to make money from.
If lives are saved and people are freed, do the ends justify the means?
If it's in his will, I don't think he'll get much of a tax benefit from it ;-)
It's a numbers game.
So many people use Windows that the gaping technical issues often affect others.
The MySQL install base is smaller, so will impact less people.
Sorta OT:
What exactly is all this talk about Han shooting first? I read about it here all the time but I've never been able to figure out what people are talking about.
As the country that founded the Internet, and the country in which Cisco his HQed, it's not particularly difficult to argue the US owns the Internet.
I happen to disagree, and believe the Internet is owned by all who participate.
And, like many other things, it'd be waaaayyyy better without the gov't (and ANY gov't) trying to get their mits all over it.
All those people in MA (and ME) wouldn't visit NH so much and spend money here if their own state wasn't such a cesspool.
Especially Worcester.
You forgot to mention that many of the people living in NH now are MA refugees, and are trying to escape the "MA way of life."
Maybe in your state.
How else would the state pay for roads?

You insensitive clod!
;-)
We don't have income taxes, either

Neither, there's already too many [stupid] people and too much violence ;-)
I'd hate to live in a place as densly populated as Japan, even if I liked all my neighbors. Just too many people.
But I'm still jealous they get all the cool shit first.
It's all fun and games 'til Rosey Palms confesses she's pregnant... and it's not yours.
What about those of us who are so prone to motion sickness that public transportation can never be an option? Dramamine and work don't mix ;-)
What about those of us who don't want to live in an urban environment? People are nothing but problems ;-)

If someone wants to kill you because you have a honest disagreement, do you want to be compared to someone with that mindset?
If you're too lazy to look for a job, and keep looking, why should you be included with people actively looking for a job and trying to make a living?

Are you suggesting we eat management?
What sauce would you recommend with them?
OT:
.sig?
Afidel, can I use that
