On the other hand, it might have been your vote that made your state a solid red or blue.
It was shown some years back, that mathematically the individual votors have more power in a sub-divided system, because there is greater likelyhood that their vote could swing a large block. Having a simple straight vote, each person would be less likely to swing the vote. Look it up.
Besides, the Electoral collage is set up to limit the power of the densly populated cities, so that the rural states are not always outvoted. In a straight vote the cities would always have a lock. It -does- work as designed.
If you're building (as some have) a functional device in Minecraft, you certainly ought to get SOME sort of credits for it. Something like this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQqWorbrAaY) certainly requires a fair amount of ability.
Wow! That is impressive. A CPU built in minecraft. That I would give some credit for... if they could explain how it works. 8-)
Computer Science is, in actual practice, a branch of Engineering. I think that an engineering degree should be a prerequisite. The successful people that I know in computers and software, including me, have both degrees.
These days, one without the other is not enough.
On the other hand, there are plenty of people writing useful programs with no degree or a degree in something entirely different. But usually those are smaller programs.
The thing is, inter-crew conflicts are unprofessional. Real teams that have to get things done don't do that. They are expected to work out disagreements peacefully, with out letting them interfear with the work. As in, doing work where mistakes cause people to die!
All of this drama is from "Soap Operas" on television, it has warped people's perceptions. Notice that those TV shows never show anyone doing any actual work, either... 8-)
No. This ruling is utter bullshit. It's the kind of thing that makes people think that they need to fend for themselves Mad Max style...
Except that is the way it really -is-. No one else is there when the danger hits, you are the only one. First responders are the ones responding, they get there later. Citizens really are responsible for defending themselves.
There are places where the police are responsible for protecting everyone. There are huge numbers of police and they have much more power than in the free countries. It is generally agreed that no civilized person wants to live in a "Police State".
There is not such thing as "Non-Lethal". They are now called "Less than Lethal" but that is not so good a term, either. A weapon capable of stopping a large animal or human, before they do serious damage, is going to have a possibility of lethal results. And even when we have better technology, it will probably still be true. Just less likely, hopefully.
I think the police should carry something besides a gun, but when people are afraid of each other it will always be dangerous. I also think that people tend to think nothing will ever harm them, particularly when they are young. That makes them do stupid stuff that is dangerous. There might be no cure for stupid...
The rich, and the wannabes, like to think that they are smart and everyone else is stupid. Can they influence the political process? Probably yes. Do they control it? Almost certainly No. They just think they can. And of course there are many leaches who will claim to control things for money.
Besides the U.S. is not designed to prevent the rich from controlling things, it's just designed to prevent -one- rich person from controlling it all. As in: set them against each other, and they will bother us less. 8-)
Try a small pistol holster, maybe of the type that clips inside the waistband. They are strong enough that they should prevent the screen being triggered. I bet some of the holster makers already have some made for smartphones, just look around. If not you can probably find one that would work.
The real problem here is that the government tests were done using the car's own sensors from the test plug. That is lazy and cheap. But it is like asking the food corporation if they tested for salmonella and then taking their word for it!
Do the real test with a test stand and gas sensors in the tailpipe. 8-)
The Halting Problem just says that you can't prove that a program is perfect, because you can't prove that the tests are perfect. That's a Mathematicians game. Nothing in the real world is perfect, possibly short of "God", so the question is useless.
The real question is "Can you make a program that works for normal work?". And the answer is obviously "yes". But just because it can't be perfect does not mean you can get away with not debugging it!
"If Engineers built buildings the way Programmers write programs, the first woodpecker that came along would destroy civilization!"
The silver is too hard to properly indent to the lands and grooves inside the barrel, and it not only does not spin right but it builds up excessive chamber pressure. i.e., Poor accuracy and dangerous besides.
Sorry I don't have any votes. But it looks like some have already upvoted it. And yes, that is my most irritating point about it too. Also the smerks that some relatives get, when I say it is takes things a bit too far to be realistic... 8-)
Power doesn't corrupt. Power enables those who are already corrupt. It allows them to scale their character flaws beyond their own immediate personal context. We don't notice them or suffer under then until they gain power. But they were always corrupt.
You are right. But you are also wrong. 8-)
It does often happen that way. But those who only have good intentions can really be corrupted by power, rationalizing the evil that they do until they become insane. I have seen it. And you can read about it in books about history (which is not the same as the history books in school).
Things are always limited, salesmen who say it's "unlimited" are lying though their teeth. Whether they know it or not.
Maybe you just need a particular amount to do what you want and maybe you can find it. But you will tend to develop a need for more and you might as well realize that now so you are not surprised later.
Unless you can pay for new devices every time you hit the limits, you need to make a plan for "staging" your stuff. Put that off for now, if you want, but at least consider it so it does not leave you lost later. 8-)
The real problem is not so much with VW, but with the lazy government regulators that used the car computer results instead of doing their own tests. They should not even be connecting to the test socket! 8-(
The "scientific method" has a glaring error in it! The method taught is to think up a theory and then find evidence to support it. Then others look for evidence to refute it. Way to encourage fake data!
Any Engineer (or Investigator) knows that you need to collect the evidence -first-. While trying you best to pretend that you have no theories yet, even to yourself. Only after you have done your best to collect -all- of the evidence, as far as practical, do you begin making theories.
But that does not always make an exciting publication... or good grant money. 8-)

Turn in your nerd card. It's "Veneran," not "Venusian,"
It's been "Venusian" since I started reading SF in high school, before you were born.
"Veneran" is a temporary fad... 8-)

Mod this one up! ^
The quick cycle of testing is key. And the major stumbling block is suprising people at a late date.

I had a college roommate who had that dubious reputation. Nine pregnant girlfriends, ... ..., another thing to screw over your roommate.
I heard of a guy who did that and one girl -was- his roommate. His name was Bobbet, look it up... 8-}

I've thought about this a lot over the years.

Pretty sure what you want is a CBR/CBZ reader. Also, paper.
Or maybe a Desktop PC with a terabyte or so drive and a screen a foot or two across?
Yeah, I know, paper is better... 8-)

Don't mess with republicans, they have guns! 8-)
