I love Firefox, but its memory usage is ridiculous. It slowly eats up all the memory on my Ubuntu machine (with 2 GB of RAM) until I shut it down. If Google Chrome was available for Linux, I'd ditch Firefox in a second, if for its exorbitant memory usage. I still can't believe that the team claims that the memory use is "normal and intentional". For fuck's sake, Compiz takes up less resources.

I was mostly referring to move to Mac OS X without any regard for hardware backward-compatibility with OS 9. I would like to see PC's completely move to 64-bit architecture, and support 32-bit instructions via software emulation, see ASCII abandoned in favor of Unicode, and see FAT32 completely disappear.

I'm still at a loss to understand why FAT and ASCII still persist in modern society. I mean, I understand backwards compatibility and lack of support, and all that other bullshit that's the reason why we're still running substandard 32-bit bottlenecked systems, but if Apple can cut the cord, why can't the rest of the industry?

  20. Re:As a fan, I hate to say this on Billy West Says Futurama Might Return To Fox For 6th Season · · Score: 1

I loved Bender's Big Score, but I agree that the last 3 movies have been a departure from the usual for Futurama. I don't blame that so much on the writing, however, as on the fact that it's difficult to stretch what's usually a 22 minute episode into an hour-and-a half. That said, I have every movie, and do not regret buying them, with the faint hope that extra sales will push Fox to re-release the brilliant show that was cut in its prime. I have to admit, however, that even the movies have some of the best one-liners and geek jokes around - like Fry's polygamist girlfriend's t-shirt depicting "for all X, I love X" in logic notation, as well as some of the best one-liners: "You do a nice 'hand' job, Zoidberg" I'm fairly certain that Futurama will do a LOT better as a TV show.
