A small/indie game producer can make a decent game with $100K. If the BIG game producer would use 10 times more ($1M) their games should come out 5-10 times better why they use 200 times more money for that task?
An ordinary person can't calculate more than 1-10 moves ahead but that doesn't win the game. Humans feel whats the best in the current position and try avoid bad moves from the past games. But AI-s ordinary don't have past memory and that's why minimizing computation isn't good.
But the government could give out the criminals who the West asks from them. They don't cooperate with other nations. The EU has deadlines for new member states to get some things in order (corruption, law and even the macro economics) why can't a huge country like Russia to do the same. I think also that this is a problem of willingness not the nature and the size of the task.
Small (niche) content producers benefit from file sharing. Because more and more people encounter content that isn't advertised or played in the mass media. When there wasn't no Internet people had rely on the radio/tv/newspapers for bringing them the newest cultural content but now people can find suitable content for them self. Therefor I think that it's fair to share files. Look how much the big corps. earn and how much the musician/actor/director etc earn. The revenues are too large to complain.
Windows puts one application on one core (unless you tell it to).
Would be correct?!?
Threading is a messy thing. You have 10 times more testing to do than in a single threaded application.
And a multy-threaded application is slower than single threaded one when the CPU is powerful enough to run it in one core.
The problem is the OS. Windows isn't built for more than one core CPU. It only can put one application to one core and that's it. And sharing the cores isn't really that fast. Therefor isn't the multi-core CPU-s very useful for such big applications like today's games. But buying a multi-core GPU is more useful because the threading model should be built-in in the cards or drivers. Of course 32-bit XP can't handle more than 3G ram.
When they don't agree then Linux won't come any popular because the hassle with distributing software to Linux doesn't pay off. And when there isn't popular software in Linux then majority of users won't change to Linux.
That's the reality.
In my mind Linux has one major problem - too many different subsystems for developers - KDE or GNOME, RPM or DEB etc.
If there would be a major Desktop for example Ubuntu which has 80% of the Linux desktop market and decides on one of the subsystems then developers can port just one time not N times for every freaking distro.
Ubuntu, Fedora etc are pretty user friendly (ok some work to do but not so much).

How Do Games Grow Up?

Poor child of Yours. Parents who DEMAND their children to learn something (like in Your case) are like slaveowners and should be punished. Children have to learn things by playing not by force of their parents. Your children gonna hate You or be like You.
I was talking about HARDWARE accelerated 3D not pseudo 3D effects. These plug-ins for flash turn it more slower as flash is today. Today, you can not make a decent 3D game or application with software rendering.
Adobe has brain washed all the Flash "developers" (who don't know nothing about 3D) with the "3D" support.
If 50% of your companies employees will have a iPhone 3G (or something similar, with unlimited internet connectivity) they don't need Your strict system because all of these workers can spend their "Work" time for viewing YouTube videos or playing games online. If You don't have a motivational work policy then there are many ways to slack of - even with this kind of systems. Even sleeping or reading something "useful" (personal spam lists - no need to send so much than receive) is a way of slacking. If people don't want to work then they find a way not to do it.
The newest (better) platform is 3DMLW. Supports widely spread 3D model files, is scriptable etc. Also a linux version is coming soon (some talk about this in the forum - searching for testers).
A alpha version of a editor is also available.
Eem...we have had WiMax connection for more than 2 years in Estonia. Main cities are covered and prices start from $30 for 256Kbps and up to 768Kbps.
Some people have complained that WiMax isn't so good in the wild (large trees reflect the waves). More popular is a CDMA service from the main energy grid provider.
I think when the 3D web software is closed then the usage is still limited to big companies who can afford a $100K 3D web interface for their newest products but why not use the open source software with a free editor? There is a platform called 3DMLW(.com) - they have reached version 1.0.2 and a beta editor is also for downloading.
Why isn't there any OpenSource/Open Community virtual world yet. Where the player can change the worlds and etc. There are evolving many simple 3D tools for the web. Like 3dmlw.com, Flux player and maybe some day also Flash.

VRML is dead language but there is also a newer one - 3DMLW. Its open source and there seems to be active development on a newer version.
I suggest to You to view the IT Crowd series :)

Also mine thought. Can't mod the reply :(

How many months can one IT employer work for $30 000? Maybe 7-10 months. The crisis will last at least one Year. How the stimulus can offer 1M jobs?
Probably Apples MS Bob
And all the rumours about PC gaming will die out and now that...mmh.

80% of people doesn't need Windows. When people acknowledge that then this year will be the year of Linux.

Flash can't render real 3D. Maybe in 5 years when they have implemented hardware acceleration.

If You like Your gmail then use just the gmail for businesses. $50/year. Isn't the cheapest but has the nice gmail UI.
