Exactly, RailCorp wants to be the ones lying to you about when the trains are coming. The BEST app in the category is the one that takes the supposed train times and adds half an hour to them to make them more realistic.
Another good commercial might be one featuring the animal mascots (possibly animated) of some of the many Linux distributions - i.e. an Intrepid Ibex, a Puppy for Puppy linux, a sneaky lookin guy in a red hat for Redhat, a lizard for SUSE, and of course a Penguin named Tux. I think that would be a bit of fun, and also pretty representative of what Linux is about:)
Also note that Marketing is NOT a product feature and has nothing to do with the quality of the software represented. I know this may come as a shock to someone like you whose only source of product information is marketing material.
There's more things that OSX/Windows have copied from Linux Distros then Linux has copied from OSX/Win. This is partially because updates and features make it into Linux upgrades which are released far more frequently then OSX/Win upgrades. ( eg, every 6 months for Ubuntu ).
Universities like Stanford and Cornell are leading the way in providing students with real world experience and giving us useful products!
Also, fail ad is fail.

It's pretty blinking obvious Microsoft is getting desperate to limit the reach of Linux to the masses. They certainly don't want 4 million kids learning that Microsoft is irrelevant, and taking that knowledge with them into the work force in the future.
There are a few really nice little things that are already in Chrome. If you're used to FF, it may take a little re-learning, but that's half the fun of using software imo, is playing with it and learning what it can do.
I love my Chrome. I'd love to have Ubiquity on it.
I thought that a number of scientists had run simulations explaining the earth/moon systems creation via a collision. I even saw it on TV on a special narrated by Tony Robbins, so it MUST be true!
"...the purpose of the legislation was to stop sexual exploitation and child abuse where images are depicted of "real" children.
However it was also to deter the production of other material, including cartoons, that could "fuel demand for material that does involve the abuse of children"."
So anything that 'fuels the demand' for child porn is illegal.
I absolutely agree that under the law, individuals must be equal, but this is about the RIAA being 'bottom-feeders'.
Because the RIAA really needs the $8,000 from a family who is certainly struggling with serious medical bills. As if the recession wasn't bad enough.
While the law stands as it is, it must be obeyed. That being said, what good is the RIAA doing the people? In the same way that I support the ACLU and their legal battles, I despise the RIAA and their legal battles.
I was just in the Hospital, and one of the nice ladies in the recovery ward had just had surgery was suffering pancreatitis, and she was in quite some pain.
Have you ever heard the phrase "kicked in the teeth"? This is a perfect example of that, and I can totally empathize with the victim.
Is it just me or is The Sims 2 HUGE? It's always in the weekly top 10 PC sales charts, and apparently it's also being pirated like mad, still.
People REALLY must have no lives...
Check your contracts, there may already be limitations written in regarding work you've done at the company. In a perfect world, if you're not using any IP or specific training/information provided/collected by your employer, you should be able to try and make it on your own and compete against them. Keep in mind knowing your market is one of the most important aspects of success, and market research may also constitute IP.
Good luck indie coders!
That's a bit of a misconception. Most Americans don't really speak English at all.

They should get the teacher who said "there's no such thing as free software" to do an ad. ( http://linux.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=08/12/10/001236 )

If the students get OLPC's maybe they can use the ad-hoc wifi capabilities and make Australia's best internet :P
Me either ;) ;) Tough nuts for this chap :P But really though, I invented this smiley :Oo It's FOSS though.

Humans are very squishy indeed. Having said that extinction due to massively decreased life expectancy isn't as much fun as a massive meteor.
I agree with your moral evaluation. Shame on the lawyers and individuals who, for the RIAA, would do this.

The game was rubbish though, so you can't put ALL the blame on GPants for killing the games industry, some of it has to go to EA.

"We never alter images. And now a word from our sponsor, Cosmetic Company X who's never not photoshopped anything."
I want the "K" installment to be called: Killer Koala I think that'd be cool.
