When I was a kid, I used to help my grandfather try to control moles around his cattle. Cattle, horses, etc. would step into the entrance to the mole's burrow and break a leg.
I wonder if he's figured out he's going to need this? He can have people sign releases of liability and hold harmlesses till hell freezes over, it won't stop people from suing him.
The NFL invests thousands of dollars upgrading connectivity in stadiums hosting the Superbowl and other major NFL events.
They've figured out that people attending these events aren't going to take anybody's broadcast revenues by sharing on social media. It's about sharing the experience with their friends and family. A picture, or video clip, that shows...I was here!! This helps build up the hype, viewership, and attendance overall.
Most people don't need the complication and headaches of a PC, be it MS or Apple. I realize a significant percentage of people here are gamers, programmers, & IT people, most of the population isn't.
For most people, a smartphone and an "ultra portable" like a Chromebook is all they really need. We are already seeing sales of new iPhone decline, I think because most have gotten a phone as powerful as they are comfortable with now combined with few significant new features. Chromebook sales is the only market segment showing an increase. https://www.abiresearch.com/pr...
This should fall under the government's recently published commitment to publish publically financed software. I'm thinking this should be one of the 1st pieces of software we get to see and criticize. Eh? https://news.slashdot.org/stor...
You're correct. Countries, the U.S. included, put a lot of effort into keeping their currency at just the right level. Too strong and too weak can both be problems, You have to find just the right balance.
I think USB-C is a more likely standard to be adopted. Many manufacturers, including Apple, already seem to be moving to this anyway.
Besides, it will handle more current making it usable for laptops as well.
An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.
It could get a little rough on the neck at times. Starting to move, stopping, changing direction, getting accidentally bumped by a fellow astronaut.
"and the Department of Justice argued that they had the right to do so". People have rights, not governments. I thought the government existed to protect and enforce OUR rights, not the other way around. What they need to figure out is a way to convince us that they have a "duty" to do so in order to protect our rights.
Synchronous 4 Mb per person, I might go along with...For basic broadband. I believe 4 Mb upload is the recommended minimum upload for both Skype & Google Hangouts. I had forgotten that even AT&T's advertising recommends 6/3 to start.
I have had good luck with Ray-O-Vac batteries from there for laptops, cameras, & cellphones. For one camera I have though, all they had was some cheap, no-name, Chinese manufactured battery that didn't work so well. I've had pretty good luck at the store for the most part though.
If they do get this accepted by the traveling public, it seems like it is just a short hop to locating the cockpit anywhere. The airlines corporate offices comes to mind. Heck, maybe your pilot will just work from home?
This idea was being bounced around back in the 80's. Wouldn't be surprised if someone with a good collection of Byte Magazine from back then could find mention of it.
When they first started running oxygenated fuels in cars, ethanol & MTBE, it was damaging engines. Mostly eating the seals out of the fuel system. The automotive industry changed the problem materials and have mostly countered this, at our expense. Similarly, changes had to made to engines to cope with the removal of lead.
Now, we're running up food costs because we're driving on what we were eating. I also question how much good it's doing. Alcohol only contains about 85% (check out BTU/gal) the energy per gallon as gasoline, so we are paying more for a lower value fuel. On top of this, cars that have their engines controlled by computer (almost anything since 1985) see that oxygen rich exhaust and respond by making the air/fuel ratio as rich as possible. This is why your milage goes down about 10% when running on oxygenated gasoline. If you are driving something that is bordering on underpowered to begin with, you can also feel a "seat of the pants" difference in the engine power.
This is fine if it's just me, I don't us my ISPs DNS anyway, but when you're trying to run a business and a significant portion of your potential customers can't find you...This can be a REAL issue.

I'm with you. As long as they are uninstallable. Unfortunately, history has shown that they won't be.
I've been getting these for some years, I've also had them claim to work for Yahoo & Bing.

It will only stick pedestrians. Not dirt, birds, cats, etc ;-)

We will see fully automated McDonald's, Burger King, others.
I personally prefer Hangouts. It runs on all platforms and seems pretty close on all.

Told us we'd all be signing up for Microsoft Network instead.

What did the little white mice have to say about it? Any comments there?

Interested users could even set up regular donations.
