    Actually, that's almost a half-trillion dollars that was diverted from other worthwhile programs, such as education.

    Tell me again, if you will, what the base of the defense will be for the illegal file trader who "stands up" to the RIAA? That they made SURE that all the people who downloaded music from them owned copies of the music?

    If you take the criminals out of file trading, then the rest of us who do it for legitimate reasons can quit worrying about having our doors kicked in by the Feds.

    They certainly should go after all software, music, and movie pirates, and take them down hard. If they make software piracy a lot more difficult, then it will force people to turn to free software alternatives. If they make music piracy a lot more difficult, then maybe folks will turn to lesser-known bands who allow mp3 downloads of their product and possibly find better-quality (but not as well-packaged, commercially) music. And if they make movie piracy a lot more difficult, then...uh...I dunno. I'm sure there's a good reason for that, other than the whole legality issue.

    Not true. Thanks to one of the benefits of the Internet, now that this information has been released and has been covered by the major geek media, there will be enough people who will download it so that the information will live on for a long, long time.

    The script has been available for quite some time, so I don't know why this is such a big deal. I seriously doubt that it's availability will make that movie any better, though. *shudder*

    Marginal article for Mac users, but the bigger question is what's it like out there for PC users, especially Linux driver support? I've got a mix of Windows and Linux boxes at home, and am fearful that WiFi cards aren't going to have much support yet in the Linux platforms.

    Sorry, but when 95% of the non-technical web browsing populace is using Internet Explorer and you decide to "make a statement" by making a web page that looks like crap in their browser, you are NOT going to encourage them to spend two hours over modem to change browsers.

    Instead, round up as many people as you can to petition Microsoft to get them to support the PNG format as well as Mozilla does.
