It's not theft, asshat - it's copyright infringement, and that's probably only true in your country, whose citizens seem to think that their rules apply to the whole world.
We're not criminals, neither, since there is no crime. Copyright infringement is a civil matter.
So, really, it's you fuckin' people who really continue to piss everyone else off, since you really are the ones who "don't get it."
Why wouldn't the open source nature of some browsers (and some OSs) mean that it's just a matter of time before someone finds the flaws and fixes them?
If Mr. Beckerman decided to change his website, I, for one, would stop visiting, as it would be apparent to me that he has started listening to us assholes, rather than concentrate on righting the wrong that is 'IP'.
I have an account at a private, non-ratio enforcing site, and even though I always seed to %200, it currently has my ratio at.33, with 7.28TB downloaded (impossible), and 2.43TB uploaded (possible, though probably a bit high)
If this were a ratio-enforcing site, I would have to send myself an invite and establish a new account. My point being that they don't always get it right, and if they don't, who are you going to complain to.
This is one of those peeves of mine that comes up almost daily.
Open Source means that the bad guys will find flaws and destroy you!!!
Actually, since one can safely assume that there are far more good people out there than bad, Open Source means that the flaws will be found and fixed before there's much damage.
This is surely better than the typical MS or Apple response to security issues, which is first to deny them, second to take eons to issue a patch, third to schedule patches months down the road so that new exploits are revealed and unleashed shortly after patch day.
Me? I'd say Open Source wins this, hands down. I'll take the fixes in minutes approach over the we don't think it's broken, and if it is we'll let you know sometime in the next few months approach.
If you set up a good jabber client (psi) you can connect to multiple accounts simultaneously, and each account can access different msn, yahoo, aol accounts, etc.
The longer you can stay away from windows, the safer your system will be.
I set up my wife on my PC on another virtual terminal - (ctl-alt-F8), it automatically logs her in on boot-up, and whenever she needs "her" stuff, it's all there for her. With all her own passwords. Plus, my "stuff" remains untouched - so whether I'm downloading torrents, or in the middle of composing an email, wp, graphic, presentation...it's all still there when she's done (ctl-alt-F7, back to me)
I know that commenting on and complaining about, or supporting, the modding system has become prevalent (as well as all the complaints about what/. used to be, or has become)...blah..blah...blah:
but how about being able to mod something as sarcastic rather than informative, especially when it clearly is sarcastic and not especially informative?
Then, we could eliminate the whoosh whilst we're at it....
I use Linux on the Desktop. There is no sign of anything even remotely Microsoft on any of the 4 boxes in my house.
I know Linux. I use Linux. I love Linux, etc., end of story.
While I readily admit that anyone with even an iota of common sense and responsibility to anyone else on the internet should use Linux, I really don't care. Linux doesn't have to be more popular for me to justify its use. Other than being part of a safer internet, more use of Desktop Linux has zero effect on me.
I'm not changing. I do believe that sooner or later, the rest-of-the-world will see the light, and join me in the bliss that is Linux - the ability to exercise virtually 100% control over my system, but I'm in no rush. It doesn't have to be tomorrow. Or in 2010. It'll happen (and I'll be here to say "I told you so" to all those former MS users....)

You may continue to go fuck yourself, mister AC.
cheers,
Do male to female transexuals get phantom erections after the operation?
No.
But I just did, thinking about it.
cheers,
..I might have beer right here at work.
Blimey. Eclipse or no eclipse, where I work, that's grounds for dismissal.
Are you folks hiring?
cheers,
As a member of the Human Race, I, too, feel it is our obligation to do what we can to support the abolition of asininity.
Political borders notwithstanding.
However, I have very little money, but I can collect tabs from soda cans.
cheers,
I just use mutt. Comes with every linux.
cheers,
I often have to google "Microsoft" because I forget what they are.
I know that I don't use it.
I used to use "Ramses" condoms, but we had our first daughter, regardless, so I stopped using them.
I figured "Rambus" had something to do with condoms, but if not, then I knew I'd find out relatively anyway, without even resorting to google.
And my unfailing prophetic power was revealed within 5 posts.
Now, should I google "manufacturor"?
cheers,
My monitor is held together by stickers.
Well, technically, not *stickers* per se, more like scotch tape and duct tape, but I've drawn matchstick figures of my imaginary girlfriend on it.
She looks good backed by grey/silver.
cheers,
It's like mugging someone on the subway for his ipod and discovering that it's a zune.
It's like throwing a stone to knock an apple out of a tree, only to find a worm in the apple.
Why wouldn't the open source nature of some browsers (and some OSs) mean that it's just a matter of time before someone finds the flaws and fixes them?
Why is it always the doomsdayers and naysayers?
Aren't there far more do-gooders than do-badders?
cheers,
Anyone who downloads a meatloaf.torrent should be charge with crimes against culture.
Or assisting the demise of culture, if those charges are dropped.
For some reason I'm pining for yogourt.
cheers,
Or, download a slackware iso.
cheers,

This is Slashdot, we can tell when you're lying!
And being /. we can fix your glaring spelling/grammar errors without seeming the least bit pedantic.
So, you're saying if I wanted to become a Ubuntu fanboy, I could do the same thing with a different name?
Wow.
How be I don't?

I'm not sure if you're asking whether you can set this up so that "Windows" in a VM would load?
If so, then you'd have VMWare autostart when the X session launches in the VT.
If you're asking how to do this on a Windows machine, then I'm afraid I can't help you (ran away from MS many years ago....)
cheers,
Yeah - the death penalty has always been a deterrent, as proven by the lack of crime in the US.
All the death penalty has ever really accomplished is to satisfy a lust for revenge. Nothing more.

Simple.
cheers,
Ok, for a car analogy:
Let's say my car was a Linux,
then I'd have nothing to worry about.
cheers,
I'm not sure how I'd mod you, but then someone else would utilize their mod points to invoke some kind of paradigm on my posting ability.
