I finally got rid of my windows partition last year, I'd like to say it was because of Linux's superiority or whatever. It was mainly because i was bored of my current pc games and nothing exciting was coming out. Now i have a ps2 for gaming and Linux on my pc.
In a couple of years, will todays large files be considered large? Ten years ago having hundreds of 4MB files on a pc would've been considered crazy. Now everyone with an mp3 player is used to it.
Thanks to mp3s, shoutcast and the internet itself i've bought cds of artists i had no idea existed.
Of course, in certain cases the mp3s had no effect on my buying. I haven't been able to find cds by "Los Redonditos de Ricota" in North America so i had to download the mp3s instead.
pfft... you can't eat entertainment, i'm signing with an ice cream factory. The world's existence depends on ice cream (we'll need it when the sun starts expanding in a few billion years).
The g makes things even more complicated since its hard to tell if the app you want to run uses gtk (gimp) gtk and gnome (galeon) or neither one (gdb, gcc).
Nonsense, that's like saying its harder to add on a scientific calculator compared to a plain one.
You can easily ignore the second (or third, fourth, etc) button just as you can ignore all the special functions of a scientific calculator when you're only adding.
Maybe the majority of users want an interface that looks like the win95/macos one. Another thing, kde has some improvements over the windows ui (like dockapps, borrowed from nextstep of course).
Then there's fluxbox which is just a plain window manager with tabs and tries to be as minimalistic as possible. Speaking as a "migrated" windows user i love the simplicity (and speed) of fluxbox.
What kind of encoding did they use for the mp3 files? lame with the --r3mix preset generates files that sound exactly like the cd they where ripped from (in most cases)
Actually with gentoo i find it easier to install stuff from source than using rpms in redhat. After using rpms for 2 weeks and not being able to install 50% of the software i downloaded i switched to gentoo right away.
If its central as in battle.net then you are terribly wrong. Having experienced the inability to make or join a game in d2 thanks to the lame cheats lagging bnet i can say i never want to use that system again.
You (and Apple) are ignoring the pc gamer crowd.

Virus comes from latin.

Then should i have the choice of murdering my neighbor?
Too bad the law is restricting my freedom.
(if you didn't get it, being able to choose isn't always a right)
My new ps2 is able to play the old psx games... that means i can play games made 8 years ago.
Virtua Tennis... Best. DC Game. Ever.
The are some good racing games for the ps2, check out ATV:Offroad and GT3.
Virtua Tennis 2 and tony hawk 3/4 are also good. I hate sports games but i love those.
There's also DDR... haven't played that but everyone tells me its good.
BOND: The XBox has games now? Where can i pick up gta3/vc, gt3 or FFX for it?
Using a segway thingy to carry a 50+" tv sounds like an interesting idea.
There's also DirectSound (I'm fairly certain winamp isn't a 3d application and it uses that)
So you're saying reading books (staring at typefaces for hours a day) is wrong and we should all go watch tv instead?
Well, gentoo's USE flags makes extra packages unnecesary.
For example, debian uses a package for nethack, another one for nethack-qt and another one for nethack-gnome.
By setting USE="+qt +gnome" you tell gentoo that you want qt and gnome support for nethack, if you don't set it you only get console and x11 support.
Which is why emacs sucks... OTOH:
VIM - Vi IMproved 6.1 (2002 Mar 24, compiled Sep 30 2002 17:28:57)

Good job killing the joke.

And then people whine about hungarian notation.
Maybe because the people answering questions in #gentoo and the forums aren't elitist assholes like the majority of linux users.
Prisoners in the roman empire where treated worse than in japan during wwii.
Is there a point to my comment? No.

People don't go to jail unless they commit a crime or attempt to do so.
Except for that stupid movie with tom cruise... (minority report?)
