Try reading again. 8 GB of Flash. It's not the same as a 65MB cache on a standard drive, it's more like two drives bundled into one package with the most used files 'cached' on the 8 GB of Flash. I'm not clear yet on if the files are actually cached (meaning there is another copy on the 2 TB HDD part), or if they live normally in the 8 GB Flash part.
I was a kid when HL1 came out. In Uni during HL2. Done by the time Ep2 came out. Now married with a kid due in a few weeks. Less of an interest in gaming as well. Main difference is I've had a job since I was 14 in some form or another other than some short breaks in between jobs.
My point? I'll buy HL3 within a week of it coming out. HL2 was just too good to pass up HL3. It may just take me a lot longer to get through the game, which just means to me that it's better value to me personallly for my money.
I bought a car last year. Could have paid cash. Instead, got it at 2 years for 1.99%. Why? Because I'm averaging >4% in my mutual funds. Even if I had a lousy year like 2009, it would take two lousy years for it not to at least break even.
I agree, buying on credit sucks, but it does depend on the interest rate. And if you've got the discipline to budget properly and pay off your entire balance each month, may as well rack up those credit card rewards, cash back or miles, what have you.
Every bar I've been in in Europe has 'everyone chugging pint after pint of beer'... and typically in higher quantities than the US. It's cheaper, and pints are bigger.
Alberta Premium, Royal Reserve, Gibson's, and Wisers say hi. Gibson's may be the only one of those 4 worth not mixing.
I'll give you Crown though. It's passable, though I do tend to mix it about half the time. Better off with a good mixed scotch such as JW Black Label if you want straight/on the rocks whiskey.
RTFA you posted.
Your statement is wrong. Canadian government organizations, including health care, are not allowed to store any data outside of Canada. It isn't that the health ministry (actually a health organization as per the article) cancelled a service to a US based cloud service, it's that they would never use one, or even consider using one.
You're one of the few people who don't bring their phone with you everywhere. Everyone I know brings their phone with them when they take the car out somewhere. Even better, if the car has bluetooth, you can do hands free calling - great for those states and provinces that don't allow handheld devices to be used when driving.
You're outside the normal use case. I wouldn't be surprised to see CD players disappearing from cars in the next 5 years, replaced with 4g streaming solutions or simply with smartphone docks.
Also, your 2 GB smartphone is well past obsolete. Most modern ones start at 16 GB, more than enough for a decent sized music library in addition to your phone apps.
Not offered anymore, I think, but my wife bought an extended warranty for her Cochlear Implant processor. 2 years for a couple grand. At end of two years, they would give you a free processor.
The two years just expired. They shipped her a new (maybe refurb?) processor, of a newer model than her old one. It even came with it's own 3 year warranty. So for a couple grand, she basically got 2 years of warranty for her old processor, a newer model processor with 3 years of warranty. Retail cost of newer processor was well over double the cost of the warranty!
Hard to beat that.
Do your math again. Using your numbers for a 360, if XBox Live is normally $5/mo, that's $120 for 2 years. Total cost of a 360 unsubsidized would be 120 + 299, or $419. A subsidized one would be $240 for two years + 99 = $339. So why choose an unsubsidized one if you're getting Live anyways?
For a 720, the numbers are similar, if they are correct as reported by the summary. $499 + 120 = $619 or 299 + 240 = $539.
Only question is - if you choose a subsidized model - what is the cost of XBox Live Gold after the two years are up? Is it 5, or 10?
Smartphones work fine for the deaf. It's not a hardware solution in that case. What we need is adequate software for converting speech to text or sign language. Something that doesn't require human input (ie. court reporter or interpreter). Something that is voice accent, background noise, volume and connection speed independent, 99+% accurate etc. Also needs to be developed for all major languages.
I've always thought an AI would need to be developed for this...
Wrong. Yin Yang typically means balance. While a man and woman together could mean that, by itself it isn't enough. Good/Evil, Black/White, Backwards/Forwards. I think OP has an interesting notion. I doubt it was intentional though.
Find a ironkey flash drive for under a 100 bucks with hardware encryption. That's impossible, especially at those sizes. A coworker of mine recently purchased several ironkey hardware encrypted 4 GB flash drives at more than 100 each. And they were USB 2. Things are pretty darn heavy, like a chunk of lead.
For 32 GB, Ironkey hardware encryption, USB 3, these are actually well priced. Sure, you can find so called hardware encryption for cheaper, but not certified FIPS 140.
Yep. Corporate webapps that require Java and/or Flash. Good luck getting those to run well on an iOS or Android device.
My opinion is that some companies will realize that the pro is a viable replacement for the desktops, laptops, and tablets for everyone. Just need some sort of docking station for when at a desk to connect it to a full keyboard, mouse, and large screen or two, and perhaps wired ethernet. I suppose the display port and usb3 ports would be able to handle all that. If MS doesn't already have such a device, the first company to make a good one could make a killing on it.
I've read it 3 times, and while there are boring parts, there was plenty that was not boring too. If the Tolkien foundation ever sells the movie rights, Hollywood (Jackson) would have no problem making several movies out of it.
How about just using the good ol' 'Possession is 9/10ths of the law'?
Whats wrong with that? Not like we need to worry about space pirates just yet, and there are always legal avenues on Earth for pursuing criminals.
Cantonese in general isn't going to be as useful as Mandarin if you want to work with Chinese companies. Hong Kong - the language is English first, Cantonese second, so no net benefit.
True. I'm a Christian myself, but when I see these pictures of the T-shirt on Facebook with the slogan that goes something like this: God, why do you allow school shootings? God replies: "I'm not allowed in schools.", I don't repost - each person, including my Facebook friends, can choose to believe whatever they want - but should not be forcing others to see or hear their beliefs - if someone wants to hear my beliefs, they can talk to me or join me at church...
nope, Windows even has a little program that will automatically wipe the settings and computer account and boot windows like its fresh out of the box making you think its a new computer.
don't have to delete anything manually
forgot the name but years ago it was used for imaging to make sure the computer account was different
Must be talking about sysprep? Still in use today...

I'd say that would be a candidate. First useful one was done in 78, though the first CI ever was done in 1957. I just got one myself!
Homes financing interest is deductible in some countries only...

You can get many of the Sierra games via Steam. IE. - King's Quest 1-7.

nevermind that. saw below it's actually running 64-bit... why does everyone call this x86... blah!
This is x86 right? As in, it can't address more than 4GB RAM anyways... until they release a x64 version of this, no point in going over 4 GB.

When my parents added me as friends, my facebook usage dropped from 2-3 hrs/wk to 10 minutes/wk. Actually lessened my anxiety and freed up my time!
