Ok, so are you saying that the frakking does not cause the earthquakes? What, is it the other way around? No, I'm guessing it's a mythical third factor causing both. Some mystery force is causing both the frakking and the earthquakes. Maybe birds. Who knows? But nothing something correlated!
People, the correlation thing is nice and all, but can we please not forget Occam's rasor? The frakking causing the earthquakes really is the simplest explanation, digging out the correlation argument is just as logical as closing your eyes and singing la-la-la. Proving correlation does not prove causation, but it is a necessary step in doing so, not a logical no-no. Even the scientist quoted in the article is aware of the distinction. There is no "gotcha!" here.

I'm sorry I'm replying to myself, and so soon, but I still can't get over this. I just read TFA, and the word "privacy" appears nowhere. It is like nobody at CNN is even aware of the notion, and nobody reached by CNN. Everybody's just happy that there are three strikes now before the teen is sent to prison for having a sex life and a smart phone. This is beyond insane! Don't Americans have any rights, anymore, or are teens not Americans?
The US thinks it is the government's business what a teen sends their bf or gf on their cellphone. The US thinks that when you travel, you give up all privacy rights. The US thinks that getting angry with a border guard is a crime. The US assassinates its own citizens, believes in torture, and incarcerates people indefinitely without a trial. And I could go on. But the amazing thing about all of this is that the US thinks it is a shining example of freedom and democracy around the world. How insane is that?
Americans used to live in a great country, but honestly, that country is gone, now. It's a shame. They need to collectively get their heads out of their asses and learn to question the government, because it is not getting any better. I am not an American, and boy am I happy about that, because I live in a country that is actually an example of freedom and democracy, and that feels great.
Did you notice that to make sure no one saw the story, they even made sure the arrest took place on the SAME DAY as the launch of WoW Cataclysm? That's how bad they wanted this one to fly under the radar.
I know the Monk will not be part of the next Player's Handbook. First, thanks for taking the time to think through this class, because it was very problematic at best. I know you wanted to make it into a "Striker" (a damage dealer like the rogue) and have basically a request. Everyone in my gaming group fondly remembers the monk class from RoleMaster, way back when, that had tons of crazy movement abilities like you see today in movies like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. He didn't jump a little bit further: he could jump 100 feet even at fairly low levels. My request is this: would you please consider doing something like that with the monk? I mean like making it the striker that would be the undisputed king of mobility on the battlefield, or something like that. I have seen so many people choose a monk and just hope they would be able to do something cool and martial arts-y with it, I do not want ten more years of that.

It seems that almost 3.0/3.5 party is basically a bunch of people walking around in chain shirts, with one or two of them with no armor, and many one wearing a full plate. The problem is that the better protection provided by heavier armor than the chain shirt is constantly negated by its lower max dex bonus, point for point. Additionally, wearing armor that is heavier than light has considerable disadvantages for no other gain. Has there been any effort made to correct this? Has armor been re-thought to be more than just an AC gain with a max dex cap?

This is exactly how we do things in Canada, by the way, and it works wonders. Of course, TV-wise, it is much less interesting: we have a projected winner one hour after polls close and have the final and definitive results for all counties two hours after that. A party can ask for a recount without being accused of "hurting the country" and said recount happens in days. On the up-side, we do save money on exit polling. When the electoral system works, who needs exit polling?

Before reading this story, I had never heard of Roland's MT-32. So this was initially quite confusing. But I have perused the site and can inform those who would still be in the dark. Never fear, all has been made clear.
The MT-32 is a product sold by Roland. It was originally sold in Japan and, some time after that, was also sold in the US. It contains some software which seems to also contain sound files. Of some kind. Oh, and it is probably quite an old model in its line of products. I think. From what I gather.
My guess is it is an old keyboard. And the fact it is now emulated seems to really be quite something. For some reason.
Tron was a box office bomb. Some people in the industry said it set the adoption of CG in Hollywood back ten years.
How true. If Tron had never existed, we wouldn't have had to wait until 1985 to see The Last Starfighter. We could have seen it ten years earlier, in 1975, six years before Tron so deeply harmed the industry. Jurassik Park would have appeared in 1983 instead of 1993. And by 1985, of course, we would have seen Toy Story. It makes perfect sense.
I have read the document you link to (have moderators?). It's an interesting choice of reference. Interesting, because apart from the comment about box-office sales, the author does not seem to agree with you at all.
Also released in 1981 (and also not a box office success), Tron used 3D computer graphics extensively in both concept and actuality. Although traditional optical effects created the characters' look, the film used the most CGI to date--it took four major CGI companies to achieve it all. The light cycles were done by Magi, the solar sailor ship by Triple-I, the Tron title logo and wireframe world by Robert Abel and Associates, and the bit character and Tron opener by Digital Effects.
What this author seems to say is that Tron contained a lot of CGI... which shouldn't come as much of a surprise to anyone who has actually seen it. I might add that the following paragraph, which talks about The Last Starfighter, calls it "the next landmark". Yes, the next landmark.
The first movie to have "realistic CGI" was The Last Starfighter, with 27 minutes of CGI. Tron, except for the "light cycle" scene, did not have significant CGI.
This makes absolutely no sense at all. Have you seen the movie? Have you even seen the movie? Just look at the damn poster, if you're too lazy. Do you think that "realistic" CGI has anything at all to do with the aesthetics of this film? What would a realistic bit look like, anyway? And, more importantly, who cares? Is Toy Story unimportant just because it does not have "realistic" CGI?
I am deeply saddened by this loss. I will truly miss them. LWN did something no other Linux site was doing. LWN will not be replaced any time soon. LWN... was important, perhaps the most important Linux news site.

Basically, what your sig states is that you have a right to be ignorant and prefer to stay that way. Be careful with that attitude: it tends to produce the desired result.
Too much of the rest of the film is given over to a romance between Padme and Anakin in which they're incapable of uttering anything other than the most basic and weary romantic cliches, while regarding each other as if love was something to be endured rather than cherished. There is not a romantic word they exchange that has not long since been reduced to cliche.
No, wait: Anakin tells Padme at one point: "I don't like the sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating--not like you. You're soft and smooth." I hadn't heard that before.
You can harp all day about how this movie can't possibly live up to expectations... But what about those of us who just want to expect a decent film with palatable dialogue?
