He thinks gold, which is a commodity, is the same thing as money.
For most of the time the USA has been in existence, our money was based on the gold standard. This means that we had a gold reserve to back up our money. Gold is sold as a commodity, yes. So what! This has nothing to do with the fact that when we dumped the gold standard, and went to the Federal Reserve to maintain the value of our dollar, we set our selves up to be in the situation we are now with politicians managing the money supply . We no longer have anything worth a shit to back up the dollar, and now the dollar isn't worth a shit. I agree with Ron Paul. When we dumped the gold reserve and went to the F.R. system, we set our system to fail soon as we got the wrong person handling the F.R. And now the value of the dollar is.... Well, go out and try to buy some stuff. The best thing we could do is to phase out the F.R. and go back to the gold standard.
Slashdot is always going to give you a tainted answer. slashdot'rs hate everything. If your curious about it tho, check out the downloads on Linux Mint. They've had record downloads, and are zooming up on Ubuntu at a record clip, according to most webstats. I switched to Linux mint instead of upgrading Ubuntu desktop, now it's on my laptop, workstation, and I'll probably try upgrading my company workstation to it when upgrade time comes along.
I still like ubuntu server! But I hate unity with a passion. Read what they plan on doing with Gnome 3! They're talking about putting gnome 2 stuff back on top of gnome shell, and making a hybrid Gnome desktop.
The Linux desktop Developers keep thinking that making the desktop simpler is the answer. And they're doing it by taking away options. Windows is busy putting options back into they're desktop. Someone needs to go beat the Gnome and Ubuntu developers with a clue stick.
Yes, It starts at the ballot box. Quit closing your mind and selecting democratic or republican candidates. They've developed a duopoly that locks out anyone working for the people. And we need to find a way to take the power away from the lobbyists. They're the ones writing the bills that get put before congress. IMHO we should get the people to put a amendment to the constitution to increase terms by 50%, and eliminate getting re-elected in office, and make all elections publicly funded and audited. This will cut off at least some of the flow of money to re-election slush funds, of which I suspect are slushed out of elections, and slipped into politicians pockets. You'll never see congress put a amendment out to do this. The only way it will get done is to get a group of people in each state to put the same constitutional amendment on the state ballot box.
Remember that the Constitution starts with "We the People". If we leave it to congress and the White House, they're going to change it to "We the Corporations".
It's not the leadership of our space program. It was obama that decided it was a "dead end". NASA did good things for this country, then politics took over.
So what about antennagate And now there's Glassgate
Of course, I was running Droid 2.2 2 weeks before Verizon released it. Can you Run the latest IOS before Apple releases it? What happens when a bug is found? In Android, a fix is found and published right way. You get it from apple when you get it.
Run Stevie Run (Runneth over with the Mouth that is)
Stevie is just a scaredy-pants! Droid's gonna eat your lunch:)
Patent's Used to protect innovators. Unfortunately, the lawyers got involved. The patent system now needs a re-write to get back to it's original intention. But with the fox in the hen-house, (Corrupt lobbyists controlling congress) we're not going to see this until we change congress. See change-congress.org for details.
Hmmm, I double-checked my link, and if you type changecongress instead of change-congress, you go to the democrat website. Democrats are half the problem with congress. Of course the republicans are the other half of the problem. Both are owned by corporate America. It's a sad state this country is in....
"Sun brought this on themselves. In the late 90's they were selling pizza box SPARC 20's for 20K++"
Actually, I suspect it was more that they had there own leasing company, and they would lease to anyone before the 2001 dot.bomb hit. They had way to much hardware out there on dead leases. That's what killed Sun. I was hoping they'd recover.
Oracle is not compatible with Sun's philosophy, as scrambled as it has been since 2001, and will succeed in chasing off most the customer base in the next 5 years. At least that's my prediction. They probably won't have enough customers to keep Solaris or Sparc alive at that point. I'd be happy if they took oracle down with em.
Just about all of the Solaris Engineering talent has left, and I'll bet the rest of the talented folks have updated there resume's.
Sun got killed during the year 2000 dot-bomb. They had heavily leased systems to every dot-bomb that they could, and then they all went bankrupt, taking sun down with them. That's how they ended up in the boat that their in. Kinda sad, they were a good company. So far, Oracle has been doing a great job of destroying what was once a good company.
2 things to consider, Is the blog open for subscribers to post material? If so aren't the folks running the blog protected by the dcma? They should tell the law firm to file a dcma takedown notice, and they will take the content down post haste.
And what if what they've put up is fair use? They are allowed to quote and put a small insert under certain circumstances. Are they trolling, or protecting there clients. In this case, it sounds more like trolling. If the website is a public blog, I would think that there protected as long as they follow the dcma rules. Of course, how much is a lawyer going to charge to protect you from the copyright trolls?
And it looks like they're putting something on the drive to screw with your system. I'll bet it will block p2p programs, and there's a good possibility it will look for movies and corrupt em if it doesn't think you own the rights.
Don't trust the MPAA and it's affiliate companies. They've been watching the RIAA, and are now starting to employ the same tactics.
I'm sure they're logged somewhere.
When they get kegdroid to pour a beer without foam, then I'll consider it.
This joke is sooooooo Old!
The only saving grace is that it never gets old :)
Not all religious people want censorship.
Just the stupid ones.

I should have known bennet would be there. I DIDN'T VOTE FOR HIM! He's a bozo!

I read it on my first monitor.....
Now I know better. I'll never use these morons again. I thought that it was run by the red cross. Doh, I should have known better.
The patent trolls are taking over slashdot. Microsoft must be happy now. Sigh
It's not the leadership of our space program. It was obama that decided it was a "dead end". NASA did good things for this country, then politics took over.
You do not represent the interests of the world population
They rarely represent the interests of their own population. Do you think they care?
But they always represent the corporations... Especially the ones padding there un-audited re-election campaigns.
Everything I've read indicates these cases have no basis in law to support them. They're going after the little guys that can't afford a lawsuit.
I hope someone chokes up the money to fight these guys.

I've been voting for non-democrap/republishit candidates since the patriot act, which violates the constitution.
If republican's are for a smaller government, why did the federal gov balloon during their era.
If Democraps are for a socialist government, why do the give in to every corporate request that they make?
Why are people so clueless that they can't figure out what these a$$holes are up to?

I'm willing to bet this doesn't take into consideration the higher resale value of hybrid's. That's one other factor to consider.

Such as in the SEC so they can have some people that actually police industry, instead of watching porn all day???
Your government in action!

Here's a better solution.
Remove it with Ubuntu Desktop.

They didn't mention the most used implanted data. Rootkits and virus's...... This won't keep the Russians happy.
