    vlc always works...at least on my win7 system. that's just it, any codec, any stupid apple/real/flash crap, everything plays. if vlc is unable to play videos of a certain resolution, your computer needs an upgrade very badly.

    i think its a matter of opinion: I hate 2 finger scrolling. I prefer the old-school edge scrolling. I also don't like the pinch to zoom thing on laptops. ctrl+scroll is way better.

    The start menu that is now full screen (that you seem so enamored with), doesn't really do it for me. On Windows 7 I could hit the windows key, and start typing to search installed apps. Now the windows key flips screens, and desktop -> metro, does not focus the search feature. No, I get to hover in the corner with the mouse, in order to pull the search "charm" from the side, to click it and search.

    you can just start typing when you see the start screen. no need to click the search button from the charms bar.

    An independent site CAN be visited by anyone with Internet access. facebook IS visited by a billion unique people each month. a huge difference.

    Cuban also appears to be betting that, since they have to advertise to get people to the Facebook page in the first place, he can advertise their Twitter feed and get people to follow that, instead.

    i think if a lot of people start doing this twitter might also start doing something similar to what fb is trying to do. after all, fb and twitter cost money to run.

    flash drives. cameras. phones. kindles. mouse. keyboard. printer. external hdd. hi quality speakers. charging various thingies. arduino. every single thing i just wrote needs usb. every single peripheral is supported by the surface. bluetooth keyboards suck and are needlessly expensive. my super awesome mouse needs usb. i have never in my life come across a printer that does not work with usb. cellular/wifi are not comparable with the kind of data transfer you get with a simple usb flash drive. what the fuck is an eyefi?? never seen/heard of it. my cameras have sd cards, for which i have a usb reader. my phone has a microusb interface, and a microsd card, both of which are supported by the surface.
    in conclusion, there is absolutely no reasonable alternative to usb. everything else is a compromise.

    ooh! the ipad has 'the camera connection kit'!! you can use it to 'access an SD card and load images and movies from it'!!
    they call it the usb port on surface, and its included in the sale price.

    bing is NOT built into the os. its not even built into the browser. on first run, there's a dialog telling you to choose your favorite search engine.
    and mozilla IS paid to set google as default on firefox, and trust me, its perfectly fine.

    its hidden because it used to be riddled with bugs. bugs that lost user tabs left and right. bugs that slowed down the browser to an unusable crawl if you opened more than 10 tabs. dunno how it is these days, though.
    also, for some retarded reason they use slow js to code up the whole thing, they could have done it in a proper language like cpp.

    This budget is hardly enough to launch a small research satellite around Earth.

    this is wrong. isro launched a moon satellite in 90 million usd. but i do agree that they will spend at leats 200mil for a mars mission. as with all government agency plans, the price goes up quite rapidly after the project is approved.
    also, nasa's incompetency does not indicate that it will take every other country 5 years to design and fabricate a mars orbiter.
