Hmmmm. Id have to find a way to wire up a heat-seeking interface to this. I dont need a missle or anything, I just want the coolness of hearing the GROWWWWLLLLLL of the heat-seeking lock on when someone pisses me off in traffic.
On second though, maybe a Sidewinder would be cool, too....
I find that the traffic reports are generally 15 minutes behind reality, and are not very useful. Many time, I'm idle in traffic, and the radio is telling me the MassPike is clear all the way into Boston....
I agree with this assessmanent, however, one of the biggest challenges is to get peoples legacy Windows games to work, which is quite the challenge, if possible at all, on a reliable basis.
You're reading a bit too much into my writing. I'd resist, violently, without resorting to deadly violence, then sue the crap out of everyone involved. Failing that is when I turn to more drastic measures.
I hope I don't sound like some kind of extremist whacko here, I'm not. I don't even own a gun. But thats not the point. I'll get one soon enough, should the American justice system not overturn these illegal laws first, and the standard-issue starts kicking in doors willy-nilly. You HAVE to give the justice system its due course before turning to more drastic measures. Lets just hope the SJC doesnt uphold some of these more draconian laws. I have faith in them for now.
Disclaimer: I am a US citizen. And please don't construe this as a flame.
When the standard-issue starts kicking in my door, without a PROPER search warrant, executed and issued by a JUDGE, is when I start considering violence, and start shooting back.
When I was in the US Army years ago, I took an oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States - I am no longer in the Army, but still consider that oath to be valid.
"I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the president of the United States and the orders of the Officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the uniform code of military justice.
And for under $2000, you get almost exactly the same machine. Its a highly respected brand, also, they just don't have the marketing fluff of Dell or the other big guys.
The only difference I see, is the video card (9600 vs. 9700), and no DVI out on the Sager. For $1K, you can keep your DVI:)
Add in Win XP as an os, to add $250, and you are still $1k cheaper. Or go free, with Linux, your choice.

Mod this guy up, sounds like the type of person I would work for at the drop of a hat.
Unfortunatly, he represents 1% of management...*sigh*
Out of the $25 it costs my company to hire an India-based developer, how much does that developer see, and how much goes to the contracting agency (Wipro, etc...)?
That 100% is not really true actually. The total an employee costs a company is their 'burdened rate' - generally the HR industry adds 30% of their salary to their base pay to determine this. It varies greatly by state, though, based on insurance rates, etc, and also by the benefits a company provies. More vacation = higher burdened rate, for instance.
Ahhh, I see. I told you it would be something obvious. I didn't realize you could change the playlist etc. on the fly. It would be nice with a PC in the basement, so you don't have to listen to the fans and such.
...what the value of this is, at $299, when i can get a decent set of wireless speakers for under $100, and run those off my pc? Can anyone help me here? It's probably pretty obvious, and I'm just blind to the advantages...

The radio reports are generally useless...
Dunno about the mortars, but current claymore mines are stamped as such. On the front curved side, its imprinted:
FRONT TOWARDS ENEMY.
Here is a pic

Not neccisarily. I sure don't recognize that as a proper search warrant, and recent court rulings back me up on this.

Besides, they can't issue search warrants, only subpoenas, big difference.

Not if they're breaking the provisions in the Constitution.

So help me God!"
I wonder if they keep such a diverse collection of music on legally-bought CDs, or just Kazaa for the song of the day?
I just bought one of these:

Should have previewed :)
To clarify, I meant $25/hour

Dupes on /.? You must be kidding, right?

so, $60/hr + 30% = ~$78/hr cost to the company.
Nah, he just stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.
That sounds about right to me. The company I work for just outsourced 30 jobs to India, at $25/hr each. C++ coding.
man, I wish I had mod points. that post was *funny*

He said old, not used.
Interesting perspective, and you raise some very valid points. I've never considered that before.
