For Google, I am a customer and their main source of revenue. If I leave and others do like me, Google dies. Some may say the customers are advertisers and websites displaying the ads, but the truth is that this entire business is based off the premise of someone using the services.

For my government, I am a nuisance that must be kept under control, watched and neutered so as to cause no problems for them. I am merely there to provide a vote (which is pretty much useless at this time since all parties are alike), and even then they'd probably prefer I not vote because they know I won't vote for them.

If I get an iPad, I want it to be portable. Getting a Bluetooth keyboard on top of that defeats that purpose, since suddenly you're carrying around two things (at which point a netbook becomes a better investment).

Compared to a netbook, it is crippled. I want to be able to install whatever I want, whenever I want, from whoever I want without Jobs policing me. If I want Flash, well I'm stuck on the iPad (like it or not, Flash is still very widespread and will continue to be so for the foreseeable future; yes it's still brought up and all the fanbois crying that Flash is so 2000s are obviously disconnected from reality). If I want to do anything serious, I won't use an onscreen keyboard. Do you touch type? I do, and I can tell you it's quite a bit more effective than going one-finger on a touchscreen. Even if you became used to it, you can never expect to be as fast as you would on a normal keyboard.

Honestly, the number one reason it sells to well is that it is very simple to use and that Apple's sales and marketing teams are amongst the best in the industry. That's it.

I'm alright with people saying the iPad has games, but damn it, I compare iPad games with PSN or XBL games, not full-fledged disc-based stuff!

That's changing too, hopefully. I was surprised to see that the new Steam UI runs all of its web pages on WebKit. Although the move makes sense since they want to port Steam to OSX and Linux (WebKit being compatible with all three platforms while IE obviously isn't), this is still a very good development. The fewer things use IE's rendering engine, the better.

For restoring from bad drivers, applications, etc. the only time I had to do that I went from no network connection to BSoD on boot which took me two days to fix.

Remember though that the issue isn't so much the monopoly as to what one does with it. Until I'm told by a reputable source (with numbers backing it all up) that defragmentation has a potential benefit for SSDs, I'll listen to the advice given by those who know what they're talking about.

As for filesystem issues, using a modern OS like Windows 7 or recent Linux or OSX releases will mostly take care of that as there have been updates to take advantage of SSDs. Sure, if you're still using Windows 95 with FAT, you may have issues, but anything built in the last few years will take care of that nicely (and continuously improving firmware and drivers further improve performance while diminishing issues).

I don't think Adobe would've been that pissed off had Apple told them BEFORE they started working on their Flash exporter.

I just don't know what Apple is thinking here though because as the GP said, Apple needs Adobe as much if not more than Adobe needs Apple. Adobe's products are a major reason Apple sells well in the first place.
