Many people are for the hypothesis of having moved past peak oil having caused the 2008 recession, especially ENV academics. Another thing some of those people and others say is that the current unemployment is here to stay, it will not go back to what it was like before.
The Independence party in Iceland are not Wikileaks friendly at all and the three MPs from The Movement who supposedly could have had access to that office are not exactly likely to do something like this, even if one of them has worked with Wikileaks in the past.
This happened one year ago (see article) and what interesting data could one possibly hope to find within the walls of the Icelandic Parliament? And even if there was any, there are easier ways of looking for it than gaining entry to the offices and leaving a laptop there. It's even more silly to think Wikileaks were involved.

Xfce 4.8 Released
·
· Score: 4, Informative
From the Xubuntu blog: "The new version of Xfce is scheduled to be included in Xubuntu 11.04, to be released in April of this year."
Now I just need to install Gentoo on it with my new CFLAGS and I will have the fastest operating system in the world on the fastest booting computer in the world!
I was recently told by an academic in computer security that only about 13% of the web are indexed by search engines such as Google. Does anyone know anything about this?
There's absolutely nothing wrong with a bit of sensible plagiarism. Plagiarism is a very cultural thing for us Westerners [especially]. In some countries [Middle East] you will find that you do not get top marks unless you copy everything your professor told you, letter to letter.
If someone makes a scientific discovery and states: "I have proven that the sky is blue". Now I am writing a paper and I want to use his research as a reference and in order to not plagiarise I have to paraphrase (I could quote but I won't in this example). So how do I do that for such a simple and short statement? "It has been proven that the heavens are azure." This decreases readability, often adds to length and decreases efficiency.
Conclusion: Plagiarism is a part of our [bullshit] Western culture and it is counter productive; referencing alone should be enough.
I listened to the UK's representative at the LHC project speak at a local society last winter. She explained this in detail and said it was laughable how the Sun newspaper talked about these things without knowing anything. The energy of the colliding particles is about the same as two mosquito flies colliding with each other at around 15ms1.
As long as the IPCC are not having their research peer reviewed I would be careful to call it science at all. Peer review is an important part of science and any scientist will tell you this, including the many names who quit IPCC because of this very issue.
As a resident of the Arctic I can say that all electrical and communication equipment works fine, even during a solar wind. I think it was in 2003 or so when a pretty big solar wind hit the Earth and all the doomsayers were going on about it but nothing happened, nothing at all. We did get a lovely aurora borealis display though!
This just reminds me of this awesome Donald Duck comic by Don Rosa; The Black Solvent. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Universal_Solvent_(comics) Basically, we'll get lots of super dense diamonds and destroy the earth!

I for one welcome our BEAR overlords. It should also be noted that worker bears work to produce more bears.
Clean and elegant applications never sell in corporate environments. They need bloat and features that are never used.

A physics professor at my university said "Maths is an auxiliary science to physics." Even though he is kidding it is kind of true.
I wonder if this dust is high in fat.
But *BSD is dying.

I always knew these idiots were right. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIDlqR1jnKA The reptile people are just hiding it from us.

A million or two isn't a lot either. Like my uncle Einar used to say, try 10 million or so.

Don't remind me of this. :( Worst time of my life. FML
It erupts every 800-900 years or so I believe, so it's nothing to worry about right now at least.

Finally, a good way of getting back at all those relatives who keep asking me to fix their PC.
We are living in post modern times boy. Having an original story in a movie is getting more and more difficult and it is rather about how it is done.
...covered. Ban all programming languages except assembler! They emit CO2 and will lead to the destruction of the universe!
Post-it notes and a big wall. They just win. Make headings with A-4 papers and then arrange the post-it notes chronologically.
