There used to be a system whereby instead of blowing into a plastic tube you blew into a coiled brass or chromed tube which was flared at one end and instead of glove sensors you pressed on metal valves to change the note being played. It was quite ingenious but I can't for the life of me remember the name of the dang thing.
Hopefully events like the PSN outage will give companies pause in their rush to move everything online. Only a few weeks ago DragonAge players found themselves unable to play their single player game as it required an online login and the servers were down. Hopefully it will force companies to come up with better solutions, sadly it will probably just force them to alter their EULAs to avoid any and all liability.
What it is killing is the pricing of games with an 8hours single player mode at $60.
There are two choices, either make games which are worth the price or reduce the price.
Politicians are voting on an issue they have no understanding, judges are ruling on technology they have no grasp of. Until there is some education on technology that doesn't come from lobbyists, copyright law will never be anything more than a love letter to the industry.
Last week it was PC gaming, then consoles again before that etc.
Why can't people accept there are different kinds of gamers and a big enough market for everyone to get a taste.
Some people only want to play 99c games on the train and that's fine, some people like the convenience of buying a console a couple of hundred dollars and having it work straight out of the box and are willing to pay a premium for games to do it and that is fine too. Other gamers want to play games at their highest graphical potential and to have more control over the game community and are willing to pay a lot for a PC able to do that and that is no less acceptable.
Do they seriously think that gamers will suddenly drop the format and style they love because of some dire prognostication from a CEO or marketing exec about the future of the market? 'Why can't we all just get along'?
It is a sad day, guitar hero singlehandedly made the concept of being in a band cool. Before that game professional and talented amateurs alike were resigned to a sad lonely existence where they would be constantly scorned by women and derided by their peers.
I got sick and tired of spending nearly double the price to get games on a console so I decided to get a mid range gaming PC. Looking over the math again, $1500 probably could have bought a lot of console games instead.
How can a small courier compete if the big guys are able to pay to have the speed limit changed for their vans? As with content delivery, the internet has allowed small companies to compete because content delivery is a level playing field, when the big boys can pay to leverage the medium itself everyone who can't afford to pay has their content devalued.
"it makes sense NOT to wait for the final release."
Not done many Ubuntu updates eh?
I have yet to have an ubuntu upgrade work first time.
I now wait a month after the release for the techminded to hammer out the big bugs.
I'm awfully glad I'm a Beta, because I don't work so hard. And then we are much better than the Gammas and Deltas. Gammas are stupid. They all wear green
Not at all.
I am at medschool currently, my school is one of the few in the UK which can afford to have a full dissection lab, let alone source the cadavers.
Are they looking to pay off the deficit?

I wish I had some mod points
Using the credit cards will install a DRM rootkit on their computers right?
I am sure that if anyone tries to use these credit card details Sony's much vaunted DRM system will install a rootkit onto their computer. Right?

When I heard this story I considered getting myself fired just to be eligible for a free cape.

When did 'elite' become a pejorative?

I bought some eggplant the other day, can I cook it how I like or do I have to check with the farmer first?

Didn't David Copperfield make an elephant disappear the same way?

I know that I always preface an invitation to dinner with a petty lawsuit. It gives us something to talk about if the conversation runs dry.

The Marines are looking for some kind of portable unicorn weapon. which can fire rainbows from it's horn to infiltrate the hearts of evil men.

My handwriting is almost illegible, so I went into the only career path where it is acceptable. I start medschool in September,
