  1. More money losses for game companies! on NY Bill Proposes Fat Tax On Games, DVDs, Junk Food · · Score: 1

It's no surprise to anyone here that new games cost $50 or $60 dollars, plus tax, making them about $55 or $65, this new tax will increase them.

Why don't many people buy video games? They cost too much. This will only increase piracy.

  4. Big Brother to be a reality? on The Road to Big Brother · · Score: 1

As we monitor the data produced by people, we can use the things they said or did to stop crime.

But as we do this more and more, we may be able to guess who is more likely to commit crime based on the things they say.

It is not beyond common sense that this should scare people in lieu of 1984. Think about it, if we can guess who will commit the next crime based on the things they say to a high enough certainty, we might just start arresting people before they commit crime, for the sole thought of committing crime. Thought-crime.

And as our economies fail again and again due to the fact that there's not actually anything supporting it other than peoples opinions of how well it is, we just might form socialist governments in many of the larger countries.

I see 1984 as being possible, more possible today than when it was written.

I don't know if the problem is with Vista or not, but I share my home computer with my grandfather who barely understands Windows, so switching to another OS is out of the question.

My generation (The college students/graduates) are the worst. Because of Google and Microsoft we think we're all going to become rich tomorrow if we go into the tech career path, but most of us have no idea how those companies filled niches in the world and the non-coding brilliance it took for them to rise to the top.

Have you ever seen WalMart: High Cost or another movie about Chinese factories? They would never be able to afford anything they make. They make nothing, and I say that almost literally. Half of what they make gets taken out of their pay for room and board at the factory. Whether they live in them or not. You can't negotiate work time. You have 12 hour days without breaks. The factories make US prisons look like they're a five star hotel. Not to mention the fact that they constantly recruit children in them. If you talk back not only will you get fired, you may also get killed with no repercussion to the company.

Sometimes these thoughts aren't what society deems acceptable, and these people do something society doesn't deem acceptable. These people are then labeled insane.
