    It seems to me like the source code of NSA Linux would pass a security inspection but if the NSA uses it's normal tactics it wouldn't suprise me if the binaries, that the majority of users download, would have a backdoor...

    Actually, QuickTime is part of the MacOS, just as Windows Media is part of Windows. Of course, there are far fewer Macs, but that's besides the point...

    The fact that the Mac has tremendously less market share than Windows is not besides the point, it's a huge factor on what format will be dominant.

    I am currently a CS student as well, and what you say is true... Universities don't teach how to program a specific language or a specific platform they teach concepts so you can program in any language on any platform with a minimal learning curve. Trade schools on the other hand will teach you Java or C++ for 2 years and you're done... how many 2 year schools have LISP, Prolog, and Ada in their ciriculum (or even anything non-Visual Basic/C++/J++)?

    Quite a few people here in Phoenix, I don't know about other areas... Qwest bought US West and so is by far the dominant phone company (read "monopoly") so they run most of the DSL service here in a metro area of over 3 million people.

    mIRC is "nice", but compared to BitchX it's really annoying and lacking in functionality. blahblahblah True for a vanilla mIRC installation but there are very good scripts that can make mIRC very powerful. Personally I find BitchX extremely annoying to use in comparison.

    The difference is that if the boiler explodes it will just kill people in that house, if the reactor explodes it could kill people (or make them sick) outside of that home. I would rather not place a nuclear reactor into my neighbors care that could kill me considering I wouldn't even trust most of them to drive my car.

    Ok, maybe their methods aren't the best but we should all realize that the music industry has our best interests at heart when they do things like this. They really aren't concerned with profit or maintaining their monopoly, no, by doing this they hope to continue to produce quality music at a reasonable price for the consumer.
