It seems to me like the source code of NSA Linux would pass a security inspection but if the NSA uses it's normal tactics it wouldn't suprise me if the binaries, that the majority of users download, would have a backdoor...
No doubt this was constructed by a bearded GNU-loving linux zealot to show the weakness in closed software systems like ICQ and Outlook... I wish they would just let us (the computer users of the world) use our horribly insecure applications without fear of virii...
Actually, QuickTime is part of the MacOS, just as Windows Media is part of Windows. Of course, there are far fewer Macs, but that's besides the point...
The fact that the Mac has tremendously less market share than Windows is not besides the point, it's a huge factor on what format will be dominant.
I'll start with a crude spear and move up to Plasma Rifles and Rocket Launchers by looting the corpses of those I'd killed... I did it in Fallout, I'm sure it would work in real life...
Agreed, kermit and x-modem don't make you elite, you aren't elite unless you've typed LOAD"*",8,1 a few thousand times in your lifetime. I've been hacking supercomputers from my trusty C64 for the past 10 years...
I am currently a CS student as well, and what you say is true... Universities don't teach how to program a specific language or a specific platform they teach concepts so you can program in any language on any platform with a minimal learning curve. Trade schools on the other hand will teach you Java or C++ for 2 years and you're done... how many 2 year schools have LISP, Prolog, and Ada in their ciriculum (or even anything non-Visual Basic/C++/J++)?
Quite a few people here in Phoenix, I don't know about other areas... Qwest bought US West and so is by far the dominant phone company (read "monopoly") so they run most of the DSL service here in a metro area of over 3 million people.
mIRC is "nice", but compared to BitchX it's really annoying and lacking in functionality. blahblahblah
True for a vanilla mIRC installation but there are very good scripts that can make mIRC very powerful. Personally I find BitchX extremely annoying to use in comparison.
How is this possibly anymore offtopic than the original post which is currently modded up? I guess it's hard for some to realize there is actually a place called the real world where everything doesn't revolve around DECSS, the RIAA, and the MPAA.
I want to steal from you. The government doesn't want me to. Why should we listen to the opinion of the government, but not me? Surely I should have the right to steal from you.
The difference is that if the boiler explodes it will just kill people in that house, if the reactor explodes it could kill people (or make them sick) outside of that home. I would rather not place a nuclear reactor into my neighbors care that could kill me considering I wouldn't even trust most of them to drive my car.
Ok, maybe their methods aren't the best but we should all realize that the music industry has our best interests at heart when they do things like this. They really aren't concerned with profit or maintaining their monopoly, no, by doing this they hope to continue to produce quality music at a reasonable price for the consumer.
Imagine the supply issues with tens of miillions of troops!
Yeah, and only 1.2 billion people providing the production base. I suppose the US should be afraid of Canada's smaller army because of the "supply issues" of supporting a large army.

I, for one, think this is a good thing. After a brief visit to Microsoft's "Re-education" Center I've learned that competition bad, patents good.

Lasers mounted on the GPS satellites, get with the times man...
I'd think after the first two or three you would choose a different company but I guess you'd rather complain about it then be intelligent...
I think they already figured it out, it's in the bottom left hand corner of the screen on the start menu...

Civ III has already gone gold...

considering that there won't be a missile there at all i think it's kind of a moot point, it clearly wouldn't be targetted.
If you need to send an exe then put it in a zip file, not really that difficult to get around...
damn, that site has got a hella lot of porn on it

Remember that time I bought you those Rollos?

Hey, RIAA heard of Gnutella?!
Who's king now, chump?
Actually it does mention it in the article, you exquisite bastard. You read about as bad as Tom Clancy writes.

What gives them to right to charge for software? Damn right wing fascists.
