You do realise the browser doesn't just have free access to your webcam don't you? You have to give it permission first. If it does, you have some serious security issues you need to fix.
What you fail to see and what evolutionists seem to want to ignore is that science actually proves creationism.
You're absolutely right. Evolutionists do prove we, and the entire universe, were created... Created by the laws of physics. This thing religious people call god is not a who, but a what. That what being nothing more than the interaction between the energies and matter that make up the universe.
That mentality ignores that many salaried workers stay late to complete projects or tasks that are important to the company, even when they do not get paid for the extra hours (yes, they are being stupid).
This mentality assumes salaried workers are paid to work 9 to 5. Salaried workers are paid to complete their assigned project or task, regardless of how long it takes. There is no such thing as "extra hours" or overtime unless you're being paid by the hour or your working hours are specified in your employment contract. This also gives salaried workers more leeway to manage their time themselves and, unless using company equipment, what or when they tweet should be of no concern to the company.
Political/personal opinions of employees (salaried or hourly) should not have any reflection on the company they work for however, in today's society, people will blame the company if they disagree with it's employees. The only people who's opinions and view counts are it's officers and board members.
Xforwarding has it's uses, but Synergy lets one easily control two computers with one keyboard and mouse, which is what I need in this situation. I can easily use the MCPC as an extension to my laptop similar to my duel monitored desktop. The MC normally runs XBMC, but if I'm working on my laptop in the den, I can exit XBMC, use it as a computer and have access to Firefox and documentation while still haveing full use of my laptops screen (and resources) for my main application. Synergy allows cut and paste of text between the two computers as well.
I'd nix the VNC and go with Synergy. I use it between my Linux based DVR and my laptop when I want to used both. Works with Windows and between Windows and Linux
Interesting, I never thought of it that way. It's not TV itself that's an inherent right, but the information obtained from the TV. Does Germany, or any country for that matter, consider the internet in the same way? I can see this becoming relevant in doing away with the three strike crap that's trying to make its way in many countries.
Yes, "family hour". There a few shows worth watching on TV with older children/teens. CSI, NCIS, Bones to name a few of the several "science related" shows (although, admittedly pretty far out there in relation to real science/investigation) that help spark an interest in knowledge and learning. These, somewhat intellectual (for TV) shows are chock full of Parma adds. And yes, children under 10 can and do enjoy these types of programs. Psych, Ghost Whisper, The Mentalist.. There are more than enough decent quality entertainment shows that can be watched with your children. Just don't plop down with them for hours on end every day and things will be fine.
Sitting mindlessly in front of the TV from the moment you get home from work/school is a problem, but watching a few hours a week of good, quality (yes, there are a few) shows, is called entertainment, and is what TV time should be.
I totally agree. Pharmaceutical companies should not be allowed to advertise prescription drugs and OTC medications should be limited to after family hours. My thoughts on why there's so much prescription drug abuse by the young is that they are bombarded by advertisements on TV.
Have a pain, take this drug.. Life got you down? Here try this one. No wonder kids think drugs are the answer to everything. That's what they've been told by Pharma... Take a drug (prescription, of course, illegal drugs are bad m-kay) to make your life "normal".
Lawyers shouldn't advertise either, but that's getting into another topic.
Hopefully the end result of this is that the public won't have a short attention span and make true on their threats of not buying from them again.
Corporations and politicians thrive on the public's short attention span. By the time AC3 comes out, most will have forgotten this mess and there will be a whole new generation of gamers who didn't go through it to sell to.
Until consumers get their rights back from corporations, this will continue. I see it continuing for a very long time.
While drivers are in control in the case we have here with nVidia, I see the drivers as part of the hardware since they were released by the manufacturer.
Hardware are PROMs, logic gates and discrete components on the cards, the drivers however are software that runs on the computer and/or changes data on EEPROMs on the card. If it can be changed in a non physical means, it's software. Using CD's as an example, Data on CD-R's, once written, cannot be changed (hardware) where as data on CD-RW's can be (software).
Like I said, we have not seen enough other planets to say whether it's rare or not. Hell, nine out of uncountable billions, does not mean we can say with any probability of accuracy that life is rare. Even if we limit life to carbon/oxygen based organisms, we cannot.
It's not a science fiction fantasy to think life exists on other planets, in other forms other than our own. It IS out own arrogance that lets us think that we are so "special" as to be the only thing in the universe that matters or counts as life. Our own state is the only state that can be considered life. That kind of thinking will get us into trouble when/if we get out there.
How can you say life is incredibly rare on other planets? How many planet have we been to or looked at? Not counting the eight other (seven, depending on how you define Pluto) in our system, we've actually seen nothing. Sure, we can see the spectrum of a few giant's, but if there were life that could be sustained on those, we'd have no idea what kind of signs they would leave.
Carbon/oxygen based life is all we can imagine, because it's all we know. We don't know HOW to think about any other basis for life.
Carbon/oxygen based life with a social structure similar to ours may be incredibly rare, but life itself?
pandemic (from Greek pan "all" + demos "people") - an epidemic of infectious disease that is spreading through human populations across a large region; for instance a continent, or even worldwide. A widespread endemic disease that is stable in terms of how many people are getting sick from it is not a pandemic. Further, flu pandemics exclude seasonal flu.
It doesn't have to be serious. Hell, it doesn't even have to be deadly. H1N1 is nether infectiously stable nor seasonal, thus it qualifies as a pandemic.
The word only raises fears among the ignorant who think they know what it means.
They complain about not enough ethnic diversity, but you can bet your ass if there were a game where a young black male in "colors" as the main avatar went around an urban/metropolitan area shooting and looting, there would be screams of racism. Same if it were a hispanic, oriental or asian. Maybe not so much as a Native American, defiantly not as caucasian.
It doesn't matter what you do or how you do it, someone, somewhere will find something to bitch about.
You're right, I've never used an iPhone. I do, however know how small a 3.5 inch screen is. I don't care how high of a resolution is has, it cannot, in any way, be used for anything but extreme casual browsing. It can zoom all it wants, but the fact is for casual browsing, I need more than a portion of each line viewable. Scrolling back and forth and up and down would be too much of a bother for more than a few minutes at a time.
My on-the-couch surfing is done with an HP 1100 tablet (12 inch screen). It's a bit slow, so I'm thinking of getting an 8.5 or 10 inch netbook to replace it. I don't think I could go smaller than the 8.5 incher, my couch surfing is more than casual. I read news and do slight research while watching TV.
An iphone for general browsing? You're kidding right? There is no way a device with a 3.5 inch display could be used for serious browsing. A quick lookup or banking transaction maybe, but if you're doing your daily browsing (news sites, research, what ever) you need more than a couple of five or six word lines at a time, and forget about serious posting. A remote replacement, yeah, general browser replacement, no way.
I'm sorry, but I didn't like the new movie. I am a Star Trek fan, but not a die hard Trekkie. Seen (and liked) all the movies and all the shows except a few of the DS9's and Voyager's - both of which were getting a bit tiresome towards the end.
Jumping from action shot to action shot, scenes no more than a couple of minutes long - most less than a minute - and not keeping the camera still, it seems to be targeted to the 90's generation that grew up with cheesy action cartoons and have short attention spans (probably due to said cartoons). The "I'm a doctor not a..." from Bones seemed to have been thrown in just to get it in and didn't fit where it was said.
In short the whole movie was one short action shot after another all strung together designed to please the 20 something and younger crowd used to this type of entertainment.
Sorry, with the "No Child Left Behind" policy, all we do is teach the answers to standardized tests. Children haven't been taught to learn for quite some time.
I think before we setup a special low-pay VISA program for jobs no one else would want, we should employ our own citizens first. Not wanting to do a certain job should not be a valid excuse to sit on your ass and draw unemployment or welfare. Put welfare recipients to work in our fields, houses and packing plants. Subsidize them with food stamps if they can't make it on the wages. There is no reason we should be using immigrant workers for unskilled labor when we have such a large pool of unskilled leaching off the public.
Weren't the Cylons in the original series created by a reptilian-like race due to the "superiority" of the bipedal human form? Am I totally loosing my mind, or am I remembering correctly?

JTV already has streaming from Android phones. Came out of beta last week I believe. Maybe week before.

Why would you pay a tax on something that is an inherent right.
Since when is TV is an inherent right anywhere in the world? Why would TV even be an inherent right?

Want a good FPS or MMORPG? Look to the Crusades.

Unless they did a complete disk wipe, the data is still there. If it's so important, ask for donations from the community to pay for it.
