    The example was of a senator, but the idiom comes from the British. It was not originally used on senators, because, as you pointed out, Britain does not have senators.

    general electric's consumer electronics devices are not made in america either. just because the company is american based means nothing with regard to where the manufacturing plant is.

    Toyota has had factories in the us for quite a while, and hyundai just opened us plants, but consumer electronis is made in south asia.

    That's true with respect to Criminal matters, but civil matters are a different story. Several companies have been known to get out of certain aspects of business when they found health risks, but still lost lawsuits years later filed by former customers and employees.

    in some states there are provisional licenses for people who lose their licenses for driving violations but in my home state of Pennsylvania, drunk drivers need not apply.

    Depends on the circles you travel in.

    NIV used several sources that were not available in the early 1600's, one of which turned out to be highly suspect in its origin. Some Christian groups avoid the NIV for this reason, even though its use was limited, and the other sources are older and better than many of those used in the King James.

    The hosting provider I use allows 5 db's but only Mysql.
    If they offered Pgsql, I would use it, but since they don't, I am taking what is available to me and making the most of it.

    I have been around the right wing christians for some time and Blume has always been on their list. It has something to do with the idea that there are no bad consequences for bad behavior. I haven't read blume for quite some time, but that's why it gets on that list.

    My first "IBM Compatible" was an Amstrad PPC-640 Lugable with no HDD
    then I got a Packard Bell 386sx
    Finally a pentium MMX 200

    It's easier than searching the web, and you can set up a script to do it so you don't even have to remember the less arcane parts of the command.
