Once the keys have been distributed, you use them to encrypt your sensitive data using RSA, triple-DES, etc (pick your own poison). This encrypted data is no more secure against brute force that it was without the quantum key distribution method.
It appears that MagiQ is only guaranteeing that your keys won't get hijacked.
I don't understand what it this good anyway, since the key you should send is the public one. Why would you protect the public key?
I was who made the question. I knew that standart consumer devices would be just fine, my question was about high precision devices like: Capilatiry DNA Sequencer (ABI brand). High precision scales for analitical use (for drug weight). PCR machines and other laboratory equipment. Anyway, seems to be back normal now, but in this country (Argentina) you don't know what is going to happend, so maybe we run out of power and have to reduce it again!. I think it is time to buy better UPS.
...when it works:) I tend to use first RPM (I have 2 boxes, a RH server and a Mandrake), but when I get to much dependencies issues, I go for sources. I think that in an ideal world, RPM, Apt-get or whatever is the way to go. But I often find issues that makes me install from source (some programs, like academics one, are in source only format:(
Personally I think its time for the ACCC to say to SCO 'wait for the U.S outcomes before taking action here.'
I don't think so. Even if the outcome is favorable to SCO in the US (I doubt it, but lets suppouse it just for the sake of the argument). The US court ruling doesn't apply to other independent countries.
TI 99/4a come is different colors. I had some of them. they are: Aluminuin silver, White and Black. I have picture to show you if you want to see them. But the post regarding how the computer colors match the rest of the furniture is right, never thoght about it.
I think MS will buy this service. Some years ago the forgot to pay a domain affected to hotmail and produce an outage. It was "fixed" by a linux user who paid the domain. Isn't it ironic? (btw, he was compesated by Ms and he resold his check at ebay).
Yes, most people think that you need a hotmail account to use MSN Messenger. In fact, you could use any e-mail account to login in passport. Just go to passport.net and register there using your standar e-mail account (not hotmail). The when somebody ask you for your MSN account and you give yours, they tell you, are you sure?:)
Maybe this is a little offtopic, but I didn't understand why the Xl-1 camera auction was a scam? Didn't you get the camera? You got it but never worked?
I still don't see how a "click me to run" virus/worm will be stopped by linux. Can you as a user send out a ton of emails? Yes? then so can a worm.
The difference I see is that Linux e-mail programs don't have the "scripting" capacity of Outlook (at least turned on by default). AFAIK, there is no such a thing as a Visual Basic Script for Linux.
Regarding the list of programs in DNALinux, it is on the FAQ and the first news at the top of news-page (just click on the "read more" link. Phylip is not GPL, and I don't remember what kind of licence it has (it is not part on EMBOSS because a licence issue, that is why is on EMBASSY). Don't know about MrBayes. But will take into account for next version.
Lindows did considered it. Here is the URL: http://info.lindows.com/lcd/. Now is free on the P2P networks (they put it there!). But they have also a live version for enterprises.
There is an alternative distribution for bioinformatics. It is based on Slax (A live distro based on Slackware) and it's is called: DNALinux. Disclaimer: I am one of the authors of DNALinux. The program is free as in GPL.
I couldn't believe it when I found out, but it's true. You can't take your English language version and give it a German locale for German OS messages. Nor can you take your Japanese version and get English messages. As far as I can tell, instead of maintaining a locale and message database, they maintain a separate version for each supported language.
I'm a user (win and linux) from Argentina. I can tell you that if you install some dll from Spanish version into English one (or the other way around) you could break your system or leave it very unestable. The Windows version I use, is the English one, because the patchs are first released in English (some patchs take up to 2 weeks to appear in Spanish). Another problem regarding i18n: MS doesn't sell English version in Argentina because the EULA should be in the local language (to be enforsable). I was told that by a MS seller, I am not sure it is true, but it sounds pretty logic.
The sun is behind the constellation of your zodiac sign, so it will be hard to see it at night! (at least the night of your birthday). But the green laser pointer is a good idea:)
What about robbing someone with an unloaded gun?
I didn't get what is Insight. AFAIK, it was a new age crap.
Thank you.

Could you give the ICR channel name and server?
That would be the "Digital Pearl Harbor" the Gov' is waiting for...
You forgot: Milstein and Favaloro!!!

Mod me down, but I'll never hire a biologist or a biotechnologist in a place were evolution is not part of the curriculum.

What is a google bomb?
:)
(regarding your logs, maybe you are loggin to much!
Lindows CD (a live CD version a la Knoppix) is also officially distributed under BitTorrent, and even other "non-reputable" p2p nets like Kazza.

I'd like to see OSDN being sued for using Linux. Nice thread on Slashdot!

How about: An exe file named "setup" or "install"? Then you double-click on it, a wizard prompt, just clik OK about 3 times and done!.
Is that hard?
