While the article may be a bit old, the concept and execution is still valid. Get a few of donor boxen, some wirelss cards, and get them together. Figure out the coverage the APs cover by testing them out at a park (with some AC provided by car), then you can figure out how many you need.
Prob old news now, but there is an ebuild in Buzilla, search the Gentoo forums for info. I've got it working, and I'm tickled pink; turned off the win box I used to hit throw rdesktop just to check my calendar.
This is a big deal, Thanks NOVELL!
(and I love you means I hope you don't survive the night)
Yeah, if you're going to LA, being tip'd is a good idea.
As for me, I flew Quatas from LA -> Sydney and loved it, I remember downing as much red wine as i could after dinner so we could sleep through the day (that was really the night by AU time!).
I used to look forward to flights because it gave me time to get lost in a book while sipping some whiskey. now I'll be answering (and dealing with) crap from work? I'm not sure if I'll do this; some times you just can't reach me (this is why all of my phones are off when I'm asleep).
Hey there! Nice to hear from you, wow, it's funny when I hear from old co-horts. I haven't played Q2 in a bit, last year was into RTCW, but that waned a bit. I've got two kids now to spend my time with, and I couldn't be happier. Still, Q2 (for my money) was the best online, well, best computer game, I've ever played. And that WOD mod just added to the fun. Seeing the same folks on the servers just built a little community, it was a good time. Feel free to drop by my latest online addiction http://lefttochance.com/ Hope all is well with you, and please, keep it real.
I only run Linux and OS X at home, so walking my mom through getting rid of this virus today (while she was 1000+ miles away) on XP was a challenge. I had her dnld stinger and spybotpro, and got things cleaned up (I though she had McAfee running...). Damn, I need to move back home so I can install Linux for her and demand that she get DSL so I can admin it.
YOU know that a properly configured Gentoo box is just as stable in the hands of a very clued admin. You also know that if something breaks in Gentoo, a clued admin can fix it, most times without restarting.
But guess what? Your boss doesnt. Most bosses (at least mine) want to know only 2 things:
1. Is there someone I can call if shit hits the fan? 2. If you quit, or I fire you, can the rest of us figure out what to do with all your servers you've left behind? (ie. see #1).
I hear ya, though after a year and a half I feel very competent in Gentoo. I do config-management and unix sysadmin. I've built a new build machine and now a cvs box on Gentoo. It's the easiest (for me) to admin, it's a snap to keep up to date, GLSAs tell me what to worry about security wise. Funny, I phased out some old Solaris boxen in moving to the new system. Anyway, in regards to your #2, yep, I don't think they'd be able to keep things running w/o me!;)

games like Tomb Raider held my attention much longer than some basic arcade style game. In fact, that's what made consoles diff from the arcades back in the day, a multi-level story, not some 2d game that offers no change upon repeated plays.
super mario? thanks, but our princess is in another castle! ARRRGGG!
if it's their network, anyone not authorized to use it would be in violation, yes? this is why I think BitTorrent is the wave of the future, no special networks used, just those that participate either by dnlding or uplding. Here it just seems to be this cut/dry issue of fair use. Am I missing something?
every year is called 'the year of th elinux desktop', but every year little progress SEEMS to be made. the fact is, Linux IS still around, and will be for a long time. it's acceptance on the desktop will rise as younger folks come into the workplace. think about it, more college students use/understand linux and open source, so yeah, I'm bullish on the future of Linux on the Desktop.
Plus, with WMs like XFCE4 and desktops like Gnome2.6 and KDE 3.2, you can tell that the technology is already there for 90% of what you need on the desktop.
goddamn, how much time does that cat have on his hands? I have enough trouble updating my site, and posting (semi)witty comments on slashdot! he wrote a book of a post!

it's not how fragmented your disk is, it's what you can do with your fragmented disk that counts.

Nice sig, but I assume you know that it should read:
"You're all idiots"
Perhaps that's part of the joke, or perhaps you're (or 'your' as you would say) one of the said idiots.
Have a nice weekend.
