I just bought a JVC KD-SX980 and it is excellent, especially for it's value. For detailed review, pros and cons, and discussion of the car audio (mp3) check out this great website:

I'm not affiliated in any way, but it helped me to make a purchasing decision for my car.
If you are actually interested in the diagram of this sentence, there is a guy on the web that will do it for you: http://www.geocities.com/gene_moutoux/diagra ms.htm
I can think of at least one band that doesn't like to tour, and I think will not tour ever again (XTC). They might spend a year or more in and out of the studio writing, perfoming, revising, and recording 10-12 songs, which they will then eventually release on an album.
During this whole time they are not going to get paid, but it is an investment, because when they release the album they get paid even though they are no longer doing anything.
I'm perfectly happy with this arrangment (well actually I would like to see them live, but I'd rather get the CDs than nothing.) I hope that there will always be some room in the music business for bands like this. Even though they might not be "doing anything" during the time the album is selling, they have "done stuff" previously, and they deserve to get paid without having to go on tour.
I'm not a musician, but I would guess that in much of the music I like, more time and effort is spent in the actual writing of a song, than in the playing of it live.
They don't say exactly what they are measuring with the sensors on the players body, but in addition to those sensors they use "psychological data, as well as information on what each player eats" as input.
I would think they could quantify MRI/CT scans of the relevent areas of the body, and use those as inputs to the NN. Frankly I'm very suprised that it has shown 84% accuracy, but I guess without knowing what the sensors measure it's hard to say.
Right... And if I wanted to eat a steak, I'd have to but a couple acres of land, get a trailer, drive out to a farm, and buy a baby cow/bull. Then I'd have to buy feed and water and clean up this bull shit for a few years, and finally I'd have to kill and butcher this animal by myself. Man suddenly a steak at the supermarket seems like a deal even if it was $100/lb.
Your. Logic. Sucks.

I think even in the U.S. some of the spectrum is reserved for non-profits. That is why you never hear for profit radio stations below 92 MHz on FM.
I don't know what is worse: a guy spend 3 hours playing the Sims in a local Internet cafe, doing nothing but forcing some woman to drink coffee over and over and piss on herself
I sent a fax using the broadcastpromotions site, but I noticed that it listed the wrong representative for my area. (It gave the name of Rep. Skaggs, who has since retired and been replaced by Rep. Udall for Colorado's second congressional district).
I looked around the site but could not find anyway to contact the owner of the site. Do you know how I can let them know to update this info?
You want to drive real fast? Go to the local racetrack and ACTUALLY DO IT.
Sure I could spend 100s-1000s of dollars and actually risk my life, or I could spend 5 bucks to rent a game and experience a modicum of the same thrill from the safety and comfort of my living room.
These things are not comparable, so don't pretend that they are.
A later posted asked for references for this research, but I thought I'd put this as a reply here.
Rumelhart and McClelland in 1986 published a study which demonstarted a neural network learning verb endings.
Citation information:
Rumelhart D. On learning the past tenses of english verbs. In Rumelhart D. and McClelland J., editors, Parallel Distributed Processing, volume 2, pages 216--271. MIT Press, 1986.
I'm kind of curious about the second claim. My understanding was that myelin was used to speed the propogation of signals along nerves, and therefore it would not really be relevant to learning in the brain. (mostly imporant along long nerve pathways).
Personally I have a *ton* of music on vinyl that it would be a royal pain in the ass for me to convert to mp3. From what it is within my rights legally to download mp3s from someone else if I own that song in some other format (in this case vinyl lps).
Even though I only connect at 28k, and with all the failed downloads it is still much cheaper and quicker to download these songs from napster, than to try and get them off the original records.
I think the real problem here is that players with real skill will get branded cheaters.
The only online games I play are TRIBES and T2, and I am not even that great at them, but I have been accused of cheating. (I have not, nor will I ever cheat in an online game). The fact that these cheats are available taints every good move/shot with the belief by some that the player is not really that good, and is only cheating.
according to the tribes 2 dev team, a representative from nvidia is supposed to be coming to help them integrate technology into the T2 engine which will take advantage of the geforce3.
It sounds like you are talking about "feeder reactors" in your second example. They were a type of reactor that would create a much smaller amount of nuclear waste with a shorter halflife. I believe the reason they were not made, was because the uranium needed for them was weapons-grade, and they were afraid it would be too easy for terrorist to get it.
Of course from what I remember this was before the Clinton administration that these decisions were made.
It seems to me that it would be safer overall to allow these feeder reactors, but just use the same security at them that it is used for actual nuclear weapons sites.
My mom works as a nurse for a hospital in Florida. They usually have atleast one person on call at all times. They only get paid their full salary when they are actually called in, the rest of the time they get paid around $2/hr. for being on call.
(on call means they have to carry a beeper when they leave their home, and answer the beeps expediently)
I guess most people agree that TV is not a good metaphor for the web wrt. advertising. Are there any better ones?
The main way in which the web is different from TV (&radio) is that it is interactive not passive. So are there any other forms of interactive media? Books are more similiar than the TV & Radio, but that doesn't help because there are no adds in books.
From the limited amount of time I've spent thinking about this, it seems that magazines are the closest to web pages (at least the current state of the web). Banner adds seem pretty similiar to the ads you see in magazines.
The interpolation of images does often produce a regular "beat". This would be the result of moray patterns (not sure on that spelling).
DJ Shadows name is Paul D. Miller.

Just like in Airheads, where the name of the band Adam Sandler was in was called the Lone Rangers.
I think a better name would be whackdot.org

If you have do not already own the original version of the game, I'd get SSX Tricky.
Oh come on? This is +5 insightful?
Although he had to say:
This is not a sport, this is a crime," Mr. Bond said, adding that punishment could be "serious hard time" in prison.
What he really wanted to say was:
They're not going to some white collar resort prison. No, no, no! They're going to federal POUND ME IN THE ASS prison!"

No, but extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. He made a very extraordinary claim with no proof. I think it is quite fair to not trust him.
Actually I prefer a Merlot to Port... Of course Porn is better than either.
