There is one server i've played on that has special commands. IE typing "Boobies" brings up ratemytits.com (or something) But this is a very locked down version of IE that doesn't actually run any JS (so you can't actually RATE their tits)
other commands they use include 'cameltoe' and 'sheepy'
Problem with QuestHelper is that is causes all sorts of conflicts and problems, I've known alot of guildies who have to turn it off for raids because it interferes with things. One time someone couldn't move. Even when he logged out and back in again. He had to disable QH before then... freaky as hell tbh. WoW isn't that pissy about ALT+Tabbing either though, quite smooth transition from one to the other even when full screened so a Browser-add-on isn't really required. FPS games in general seem to have a harder time coping with ALT+TAB (particularly online games, Source-based ones being a prime example, Counter Strike being the biggest culprit of throwing minimised hissy fits) the only shooter i've known to work well while alt+tabbing has been S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and it's prequel which pauses and returns to the main screen when you alt tab (useful).
What about open Markets? If a Company, Person or Council rents out a pieces of land for a Car Boot Sale or some other kind of market and someone comes along, sets up a stall and flogs dodgy goods, who's culpable? The market owner, or the dodgy dealer? The question arises is what does the market owner have to do to keep these neer-do-wells out?
The end of this trial won't see Jail time for TPB, nor damages awarded, it will see them being ordered to put blocks and checks on all torrents, essentially turning them into a Torrent version of fileplanet or cnet downloads. Either that or they close down completly. Either way it's the end of TPB as we know it.
The idea of a host of extra-solar planets filled with low-order animals or plants is one that is a running theme throughout Issac Asimovs works. Very rarely does he make mention of truly alien species (The Gods themselves showing that he could if he wanted to) Most of his works involve habitable worlds that were either naturally suited to life or required minimal terraforming from settlers, (See Terminus) and to be honest, this news article just seems to glurge back what Asimov had been writing as far back as the 1940's, only without the excellent storytelling.

China's economy may well shift away from Export and more towards domestic goods, however, every country keeps atleast one major export that it's famous for. Scotland has Whiskey and Beef, Japan has Electronics and Cartoon porn, and I see consumer electronics continuing to be one of the major ones (if not the biggest) in China's future.
yes, yet another solution to a problem that didn't need fixing. People had been doing web applications with the same effect using hidden IFRAMES for years prior to the uptake of XmlHttpRequest. Infact, Google uses IFRAMES for Google Maps to load JSON (so really it's AJAJ rather than AJAX) - but Microsoft showed us a 'better way' using a non-standard method that is only supported by their browser.
way to go Microsoft, you're trying to advertise Windows on something your target audience will have trouble viewing doesn't really sell them the idea that you're products are worth it. Gun.pointAt(Foot); Gun.Trigger.Press();
I think that the games industry, now that it's a financially viable and we have alot of big companies vying for position, who do the marketing, foot the bills and who own lots of little companies that do all the hard work, the industry is not totally unlike the 70's - 80s Film Industry. We've got the likes of EA, Take2, Activision Blizzard (tbh, they should just have called it Activizzard) in place of Warner, MGM etc, and for every "die hard" you have a "look who's talking", instead you have a "Far Cry" for every "Sims" or "Tycoon" game. During this period there were a few excellent films that became classics like Blade Runner, Star Wars, just as we have our Half-life and Halo's We've even seen a burgeoning Indie development community spring up with the advent of Steam's download system Perhaps we're closer to the mid 90's now, how many Friday the 13ths and Fifa/Madden games have we had? If the analogy fits, and we continue like this, we're heading for a plethora of sequels, prequels, remakes and 'reimaginings' - infact, we've already had Tomb Raider aniversary - will we start seeing Halo: The phantom menace in the next decade? or perhaps a merging of franchises with "FIFA Tycoon", or Maybe send Madden into space with "Madden X". Maybe i've laboured this analogy enough for now, my stomach tells me it's lunch time.
They also built upon an established Franchise, I mean, Warcraft was one of the main RTS Series at the time (and way back when only it and C&C were the main players) - it was a very recognisable brand to most gamers, made by a company they knew had a reputation for making good multiplayer games (Diablo, Warcraft, and ofcourse, Starcraft) Everquest was just one of those 'sad MMORPG games' that people wasted their time on, drained their life and ruined marriages, whereas WoW was the next chapter in the Warcraft story (which for alot of Warcraft RTS players was something they would have to play, and piqued interest in those who'd played the RTS's and enjoyed them) Would blizzard have had the success if they'd started a brand new franchise? Perhaps they would have, but if any other company had made their own MMO in place of WoW (Same specs, same graphical style, different setting and plot) I don't think market forces alone would have seen them rise high. I think if it was EQ2 vs some unknown, EQ would have won. But because it was Blizzard, and an established franchise with gamers for over 10 years, WoW won out the day.
And even if WoW hadn't been successful in the West, Korea would have ate it up regardless
My mum uses more than three apps at any one time, even ignoring Anti-virus.
MSN Messenger (which she uses mainly to access Hotmail), Web Browser (i've managed to get her using Firefox atleast), Spider Solitaire and a Music Player. then ofcourse there's MS Word which she uses ocasionally That's 5, and if Anti-virus software is included 6. Any other user might well use a seperate Email Client to, and that's the 7 applications from the old report (the 70% of windows users have 7 apps open at once thing)
If it's released only to developing countries what will they be using on it? Browser, check, Email, possibly, Office tools, most likely, Solitaire/Minesweeper, probably. Messaging sofware, also likely (that's 5 off the bat) As they get more net Savvy they'll probably have Bittorrent, Itunes, perhaps even a proper Game. At this point they'll be net Savvy enough to know their version of Windows is seriously locked down and will want an upgrade. They will do one of two things: Shell out for a new computer with a proper version of Windows (doubtful, they're in a developing country and if they've had to buy a nerfbook they're probably too poor to do so) or they download through their newly acquired Bittorrent programme a dodgy copy of Windows 7 (or perhaps are savvy enough and go download a copy of XP)
As the second one is more likley, but may not always happen, if you ever happen to speak to a nerfbook user in a developing country with a starter edition of windows, point out their windows is crap and point them towards a proper version of windows (point them to the version your conscience allows - or indeed, Linux).
I played BF2 for quite a while, enjoyed it immensly with my flatmates, however, we also got pretty much the same kick out of the Desert Combat mod for BF1942. Same setting, same vehicles (minus the turbo charged buggy) better graphics I didn't buy battlefield 2142 as the only thing that appeared to be different was the gimicky 'board the space ship and destroy it' mechanic. Now it appears with BF1943 they're going back in time, therefore there will be no spaceships and even that gimmick has gone. Churning out the same game with a new graphics engine seems to be the trend nowadays with EA. shame really.
Apart from the fact that valve run very few of the actual servers out there (they're mainly hosted by other companies, like jolt) Yes, using the console is clunkier, but frankly it's worth it just to get a lag free game (you can use the browser to sort from local games)
granted, you can't START games this way, but you can always join a game in progress. for anyone wondering how to do it, you have to activate the developer console from options->keyboard->advanced then pressing '`' (to the left of the number 1 key) then type 'openserverbrowser'
oh no, not again. David Cameron has picked up on another techy buzzword and is hoping to slam Labor into the ground with it. This isn't about FOSS at all, it's about the political machinations of a desperate man and a desperate party, futily attempting to win favour with the masses. I'm sorry David, but we will never forget Maggie Maggie Milk Snatcher, nor will we forget your morning 'green friendly' cycle to work while your briefcase goes by car
Nintendo ARE looking into branching the Wii into more hardcore gaming areas...

Actually, the reason they're rare on the PC is because it's very rare that you have more than one control device plugged into your PC.
oh, and quite possibly look into Dark Basic
