Make no mistake about it, a 1.4 GHz G4 is by no means a sluggish CPU. Perhaps it can't crunch numbers as fast as its more powerful bretheren, but that's not what it's designed to do. (G5s and XServes are)
I have a 1.4 G4 at home which runs on a 100MHz bus (The new ones are at 133 I believe) and from a user perspective its a lot more snappier than my 3.x Intel (w/XP SP2) at work. It handles Photoshop CS, iPhoto (with 6000 pics), iTunes (6GB library) (all at the same time) just fine. (It's also running a webserver)
While they are pricey RAM wise, I don't think Tiger performance will suffer due to the CPU. (I've actually had a pre-release running on mine, and spotlight ran just fine)
I tried (briefly)looking for them a while ago, but couldn't find them.
I'm so excited about this movie, and I hope it receives a good recepcion in US, so people will finally see that a good movie can be made without Spielberg and Cruise.
i don't think it's spyware, i allow it to run on my system for ET, but i can tell you that your kids will be surrounded by better people online. punkbuster keeps away all the lamers that use wallhacks, auto-headshots, and other forms of cheating.
the "matches" they participate in will be of higher quality and generally have less whiners or TKers.
Fingerfucker is right. Holding down escape is something that everyone on the planet should know. Also, browsing the net on IE is generally more secure if the user offers a saccrificial chicken to the computer. (But I think everyone knows that)
(That's actually the first chapter of my next book "IE woodoo")
just the other day I was installing Avid Xpress Pro 4.6 in one of our digital video labs. It turns out that a juggernaut like Avid didn't get a VeriSign license either, so I said *fuck it* and gave students sketch pads and pencils, so that they can make little flip cartoons.
No untrusted software is running on my machines (Windows ME, IE, and Outlook only!), and to this day I haven't VISA had any 4593 2334 2302 2481 problems whatsoever. 01/08 459

I agree.
Quicktime makes some very nice mpegs.
Both beta testers said they were deeply hurt when they realized that they were not in fact playing an online demo of TRON 2.0.
or does WMP suck ass at compressing at low bitrates?
Just great. You guys just gave John Carpenter another idea for a movie, and ensured another few months of employment for Kurt Russell...
Where? Which ones? How do we get them?
out of the office supplies? Hell yeah!!!
OK, I'll bite. /. how to deal with spyware?
Seriously, who comes and asks
And why do the "editors" let crap like this trickle in?
I like a good MS bashing as much as the next guy, but this is too easy. (It's no secret that I'm a Mac and FireFox fanboi.)
They're not all stupid. I think Michio Kaku, one of the better known physics writers was on board with them.
Damn, that's pretty good. I had a custom built AMD 15" laptop, and it only had 90 minutes of battery life.
A recent 12" iBook I got for my parents gets over 3 hours of active use, so I was pretty happy about that.
4-5 hours on a single battery is really good.

Damn, even though I'm a big Mac fanboy, I'd give you an insightful for this comment.
However, since Longhorn is NTFS based, I hardly doubt that this feature would be as fast as apple's implementation.
There's a reason MS calls it "search", while apple calls it "find".
Dude, this is /. You don't have to tell us to avoid shitty Dells.
Out of curiosity, how long does it run on battery power?
I'm gonna start saving now, and when those things (PB G5s) come out, they won't seem so expensive.
So, while all the ACs are screaming how these things are too expensive, I'll be running off to the store!
but what if the camera tells me that there's nothing to see there, and to please move along?
how will i know which way to go?
Excuse me if I'm wrong, but no Disney heroine has a massive rack.
Jasmine had a handful at best. Not that they're real.
Thanks for the links to the WOTW trailers.

Let's us all pool our moneys together and remake Citizen Kane!
Come on, who's with me?
Just imagine what we could do with all all the special effects of nowdays, AND make it in color!!!
Can you imagine how evil IE would be if it was networked together?
I think I just pooped my pants.

He lost to G.W. and Janet Jackson!
At least not according to a documentary I once saw.
I believe the proper way to get your dead pet back is to burry them in an Indian cemetary.
Summary (taken from the post):
the guy knows what's going on on those big heads. It ends with a sad view...
