    There is a place for CPA's that knows about IT.
    Someone has to bridge the gap (and there is a gap).

    One danger I found was that the IT people thought you were an acct, and the acct. people thought you were wierd. The mangement, however would listen to you if you knew what you were talking about. You usually did because you could see both sides.
    IF you don't know what your talking about, however, keep your mouth shut. (almost always good advice).

    A large number of people in the US have a new religion. They may not know it though. A majority of
    church attendees have little idea of the tenents of their faith. I guess they make it up as they go along.

    "Old line" religions do better, ie catholics, CofE etc....

    video. never did get there. What they have done to the news makes one long for the like of tin.

    All I ended up with were a couple of snotty responses from morons.org. At least they had some self awareness.

    You could study the one field most CS/tech people ignore, and don't do well in as a rule. Reading and writing. With heavy emphasis on the writing. Tech skills can become obsolete, but critcal thinking and good writing have a long future.

    There are a lot of infected computers out there. I often run TARPIT under iptables, and am amazed at the quantity of stuff I get.

    I have it set up to stick to the usual windows ports,
    135,137... 445 etc.

    I finaly sent email to one ISP in wyoming suggesting
    they help a guy, he had been stuck for days. At least it may have slowed down infecting someone else.

    Are you sure you can handle numbers that big.
    Sendmail can be a bank vault or an open door.
    It is up to you. The recent default mode seem closer to bank vault than open window.

    Portland and southern Oregon are not/ were not friendly places for non whites. Portland at one time
    had a particularly bad reputation. May still have,
    ( I am a whitey).

    As for The Dalles I don't know.

    Mountain biking in that area (The Dalles) sounds grim.
    Lots of lava, hitting that stuff at any speed and you'll need a new epidermus. It's sort of like coarse crushed glass. Road rash on steriods.

    only one problem , The Dalles isn't near Portland.
    except in the sense that Barcelona is near Paris.
    You don't commute from The Dalles to Portland. (well there are mashochist...)

    I would call it a little nearer The Dalles dam than Bonneville. You may be thinking of Cascade Locks or Hood River.

    The Dalles is NOT Portland, it's where the Aluminum smelter is. Weather is diff, it's east of
    the moutains, colder, windier, DRYER, etc...

    Better like rocks and dry grass. If you like wind surfing and snow skiing you are in pretty good shape. Be aware that the gorge in winter can be impassable.

    PS the town is called THE DALLES. Makes for strange road signs, ie "DOWNTOWN THE DALLES"," CITY OF THE DALLES"

    Japan current gets partialy diverted thru Bering strait.
    Warm Japan current flushes ice out of Acrtic Ocean.
    Might plug up around north end of Greenland and stop
    flow from Arctic Ocean. Would this change Gulf Stream?
    Or might push lot of cold water into north atlantic, affecting European climate.

    and so on and so on .....

    I think maybe we don't know.

    I think people will notice. What they will notice I am not sure.
    The arctic ocean is not stagnant. it circulates, mostly pacific to altantic (top of Greenland).Ice can impeed this flow , lack of ice would likely speed it up.

    Already the summer icefree area of the actic ocean
    are growing. The water is also being diluted by more
    fresh water, some russian river have been increasing in flow.

    As for what this means , take a number....

    You still have to pay for the sat service, not doing so is theft.
    However; gettting CA tv in the US also requires some
    subterfuge. Yes some people like CA tv!

    Two examples; Royal Ca Air Farce, 22 minutes, the National, french language programing, Le Porte des Attoilles (star gate). (so I can't count).

    Why let in connections from these countries?
    If you have business or contacts , maybe, otherwise
    why bother?

    Iptables on a firewall does a lot of good.

    Put selective holes in if you need to, I even block some US ISPs that are bad on spam and probes.

    I connect to the internet for my convienence not theirs.
