I think what they were referring to is the cost per flight, in terms of dollars per pound raised. I don't know the budget of either spaceshipone or nasa per launch but I would assume the cost is much less for spaceshipone. Anyone have the numbers to back this up?
I'll be estatic when I see something that can fly 20+ people (what the space shuttle could probably do if it was a passenger vessel) that can be run rather cheaply.
friday late night and after coming back in, I stupidly check my email and slashdot and bam something about Condorcet Criterion... can we repost this on monday morning when my brain is working again? really I won't be mad if its a repost
I'm not one for reading articles usually, there are to many things going on in the world to read all about the changelog for SpamAssasin 3.0 or yet another diatribe on free vs. not-so-free vs. user rights vs. privacy... anyways, most of the time it all gets a bit repetitive, but if you are tired of that, read this one, its good, the poster sort of mangled it into a very curt summary but take a look, its worth the time
I know a lot of people who are "Hackers" who work in IT... Hiring someone who writes worms and virii though? not bloody likely... Hackers aren't always malicious, and more then likely they know what they are doing with system administration then someone whore just reads a few FAQs and manuals...
since WS2003 can do almost anything that XP can yet is more stable and can do a lot of testing for work related activites I have that as one of my main computers at home... I tired to install Media Player 10 and it won't install, apparently its only for XP
go fig.
In case you don't follow M$'s every move like me..

Apache Rejects Sender ID
·
· Score: 4, Informative
The Sender ID Framework is an industry standard created to counter e-mail domain spoofing and to provide greater protection against phishing schemes. This combined specification is the result of Microsoft's Caller ID for E-Mail proposal, Meng Wong's Sender Policy Framework (SPF), and a third specification called the Submitter Optimization. These three draft technical specifications were recently submitted to the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and other industry organizations for review and comment.... and it goes on and on
I just setup airtunes in my house (2 seperate places) and I have to say its been a lot of fun... with an Ipod wirelessly connected into it, I could see it being a whole lot easier, especially with friends coming over and bringing their own party list without the hassle of bringing them into the computer room
Who would have thought that an anonymous post on a fan site about something so obvious would lead to something like this.... no... no really... who would have thought?
take a look at their SEC filing of June 9th. on Item 2 Title: MANAGEMENT'S DISCUSSION AND ANALYSIS OF FINANCIAL CONDITION...
it sheds some light on where they think they are.
Bittorret vs Alkwhateverthehellitscalled speed wise I think I can download it from Microsoft's site around 400 times before this bittorret gets to 50%. I have never been a big proponent of using P2P for something like this. a) I want to totally trust the source, no matter how evil it may be b) I want it to go faster.... c) see above...
I know bittorret could be a real tool if more people used it etc but it still doesn't always hit 500k when I click on a bittorret file... while whenever I download from Microsoft, it does... (except for a few DDOS days)
and how would anything get done if we did that? not saying that I condone boing for what they did but DUH! you think Mcdonald Douglas didn't ever do anything like this?
well when was the last time you saw a computer company get another country invaded so it could have a cheaper supply? huh? in terms of seeing things happen.. oil companies are much more sucsessful in rewriting history
yeah but if we are dealing with a state that backpedals once we actually launch, we dont need to be dealing with them anyways. Its like you get ready to checkmate someone after they've set themselves up and they go "oh wait let me make another move" once you are fucked you are fucked.
let me guess.... your a republican.. around 18-25 years old and... okay thats about as much as I can guess...
Biometric analysis equipment $250,000 Staff time to implement new security procedures $12500 Sledge hammer: $25 Expression on the Project Manager's face after he realized he should have installed a better door: Priceless
I was so close to just using all my mod points to knock 5 points of karma off of some really stupid posters and hopefully make a dent in stupid moderators but I decided just because I think most of you are stupid doesn't mean that I have to mark everyone as flaimbait or overrated or troll.
GET FUCKING OVER IT. if the evil empire does something good, then let them do it. of course its in their best interests... either they do something like this to keep their customers happy or they lose market share. just nod and say its about time and figure out if anything new technology wise will come out of this to help us non-microsoft using people..
anyways sorry for the rant but you guys seriously piss me off sometimes
a note of clarification.. what I meant to say is it wouldn't send acknowlegements it did not recieve a certain numbered packet and otherwise not send any responses...

with some of the issues with ipod's batteries that could be worth quite a chunk of change!

Shatner is actually associated with the marketing turn around of priceline (after Jan 2001 all time low)... so he's still doing fine there
