Yeah half of the fun of linux is wiping things out, messing around with different distros etc which would be annoying to the other people using the machine. Get yourself an old thinkpad to experiment with.
I wonder heavy metal foams would be a good lightweight radiation shield? At first blush you would think it is weight/density dependent but if you have to wonder if radiation aligns itself with the 'holes' between the atoms.
No way- things like healthcare are driven by government regulation, so you are going to end up with private sector business processes that are a convoluted mess.
"Others are worried about how Stack Overflow has impacted programming fundamentals. Some critics believe that rather than truly struggling with a problem, developers can now just ask Stack Overflow users to solve it for them"
It's pretty rare that someone will discover on their own a better solution then a more experienced developer. I have learned quite a lot looking at other's solutions to a problem... in particular where the tool is not the best for the job.
I think the OP was talking about compliance in all phases of drug development and distribution that go well beyond marketing. They are extensive and expensive!
So how are they recruiting differently for IT vs sciences? Did they use a more appealing language for chemistry or mathematics- probably not. So you are agreeing that the premise of the OP is incorrect?

Instead of a 'smart' tv how about one with an api that would let you control the TV from a connected device?
Wouldn't your rather spend the money used for 'smart' features on better screen or electronics?
You can be pretty sure that any consumer product with 'smart' on it, isn't. Like those minivans that say 'sport' on the side.

Also the incentive to squander the money and not deliver is greater- sure your name gets dragged through the mud but it is 3.5 million dollars!
resistance in a conductor is easy to engineer around but resistance due to corrosion isn't
