I have no problems with Ads. I totally understand sites need to make money. People do work to make sites exist and I totally get that. But really some of these Ads are totally insane and just a big pain in the butt!
If Ads were just part of the page and didn't run video, change like crazy, etc I would be ok heck some of them are actually interesting and I buy things related to them. Imagine that??
There is something wrong with this. This should not be a 10 year offense! I can't imagine how that will impact people that do violate the copyright and it will just clog up the jails for no good reason. I agree there should be some impact but the copyright length have gotten crazy.
If I buy something why should I not be able to do with it what I want? I don't want to buy it 4 more times just because its a different format of the same thing. I am happy to buy my content once and make it easy for me to do what I want with it on my devices.
The system is totally broken and just bolting more jail time is not going to fix it. Easy quick fixes generally don't work.

Reality is that we need to balance the budget its going to be a hard several years to get it all fixed. We didn't get here over night and we won't be able to fix it over night either. But we DO need to get there.

It would make things a heck of a lot simpler. Maybe I could actually be in control of my own life and decide what I spent my money on.

We need more engineers and those thinking about new ideas to try out. We need to find more and more ways to energize our people to development things good for humanity instead of more things to destroy it.
I keep a Sun 3/470 around that I resurrected after being saved from a big dumpster. Not overly quick, but it does keep the room warm when running.
I did actually use it several years ago while in school to have something that was slow enough that I could see differences in algorithms for a couple of my CS classes.
I currently have a series 2 Tivo and Love it, but...
I want to be able to receive Digital OTA broadcast as a couple of the analog tv stations around me (non uhf) ones don't come in anywhere as good as the UHF ones do. Does anyone know of a way to get Digital OTA for the Series2? The Series3 just has a price point that is WAY out of what I want to pay. I have looked at MythTV but found it a tad expensive to build a system as well.
If you have the money I would say pay the tuition. Less debt you have the better off you are.
Check out Dave Ramsey www.daveramsey.com he has some great ideas about debt and never having them again. My wife and I started the plan this year and it is a great feeling to be paying down debt and getting rid of payments. Its amazing how much we are paying in interest that would could be using for something else.
His plan is pretty simple. Get on a written budget and STICK TO IT. You have X dollars comming in budget them ALL and dictiate where it goes. Use all cash! We put money in envelopes and when the cash is gone we are done with that catagory for the month. This usually takes up to 3 months to figure out what you are doing and to get it right.
Cut up the credit cards! Save 1000 dollars in the bank for an emergency fund. Start listing all your debts smallest to largest and pay off the smallest ones 1st. This helps with a mental good feeling of getting rid of payments. It worked for us! We feel great when we pay off another one. The car should be payed off in 2 months. Don't go out to eat, don't go on vacations till you get the debt taken care of. Once you are out of debt then you start saving for a house, retirement, etc. Check out his website he lists it all. We are very happy and hope to be out of debt within about 2 to 2.5 years INCLUDING all the stupid stuid loans... Then off to save for a house...

We do NOT need a tax on sending email. The ISP already has costs for bandwidth and as much as I hate to say spammers have to be buying bandwidth from someone.
Yes there are bandwidth costs on the recieving side as well but there are costs for both sides of phone calls as well and I still get a lot of telemarketers.
If they want to pass a useful law make it so folks have to have a VALID return address so I can filter the crap out!
Lets not create more taxes but simplify the ones we have. How many people actually do their own taxes? We need to simplify the tax code. Eliminate all the stupid add on taxes for services.

I am moving to a new apartment in N-VA and have discovered no cable modem or DSL. I liked my DSL when I was in Denver and would like to get DSL again in VA. I checked on speakeasy.net and they said I was 18250 feet from the central office:(

Yes I do. I actually enjoy it as well, after working with computers all day its good to get away from them for a while. I really think we just socalize and BS, do some eating and then play some D&D either way a good time.
