FYI, that extension can still leak cookies on the first request because of limitations in Chrome's extension API. See the page you linked for more details.

If your app really is that simple and cost is that much of an issue Embedded Visual C++ v3 & 4 are both 100% free. They are also very feature-free & may thus be more to your liking that Visual Studio.
Otherwise the best way to get Visual Studio cheaply is a free copy at a local user group launch event, or the "Heros Happen Here" even that's running now (though that's only Visual Studio Standard Edition): http://www.microsoft.com/heroeshappenhere
Depending on your licensing situation, the student Dream Spark program is offering the professional version for free: https://downloads.channel8.msdn.com/
The answer, as has been pointed out here on slashdot & by our good friend Steve Gibson on his Security Now podcast, is to get a second router. It doesn't even have to be wireless, though that seems to be the more expensive option these days.
Is there any truth to the rumor that Windows Vista had big chunks of managed code ripped out because of performance issues? If that's what happened, they certainly couldn't admit it...
I left two PCs for younger siblings running Windows 2000 at my parents house for two years... the only real problems have been hardware failures. I used to remote in to type in the admin password when they wanted to install a new game, but I got tired of that real fast (and felt like too much of a control freak). Instead, I created an admin account called "games" with no password that they can runas the stuff that needs it. Having been unable to install programs for so long they put enough thought into it now prior to using this ability that it still hasn't been a problem. It's been good enough, and is probably what I'll do for all future setups.
Perhaps he misinterpreted the problem because it was stated in the summary as "A missing parentheses" which leaves room for several interpretations, primarily involving the difficulty caused by the fact that "A missing" (singular) + "parentheses" (plural) requires a bit of parsing. (As many have mentioned, a better phrasing may be "A missing pair of parentheses"...) Were a single parenthesis missing, it would not have compiled.
Can you use more than one sound application at the same time?
I still remember when gaim used to queue up sounds while I watched a movie... then they would all play once I shut off VLC.:) Hopefully things are getting better, but I know in my case Knoppix isn't configuring the ALSA mixer for my soundcard. I guess if I was interested in "pro-level" audio I'd be willing to dig into it a bit more. As things stand, I just listen to one app at a time. (Might have something to do with my antiquated, integrated audio: Intel Corp. 82801AA AC'97 Audio (rev 2).)
Splashtop shipped an unencrypted remote access solution for nearly 1.5 years without giant disclaimers.

I'm supposed to trust them now that it's finally encrypted?

So basically what I am trying to say I guess is this: Fuck Telus!!!!!!!
I think I picked that up by paragraph #2... :)
Did you miss the '(with compression)' part? The SSH solution squashes everything, without special treatment for anything (lossless images).
Use ReplayOnTop instead (Vista only?)

The images expire intermittently.
Http Referer checking sounds like a "works for most" solution.

Also look at the "Spark Your Imagination" program for a great deal on not only Visual Studio, but also Platform Builder & actual hardware: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/embedded/products/spark/
MS has already done a boatload of work in this area. The news should be that Asus is finally aware of it.
whoosh
The guy will be missed at Microsoft, that's for sure... I hope all that brand new kernel transaction stuff already works perfectly in Vista.

The answer could depend on whether or not you can get Slashdot to post a link to your test!

I'm pretty sure the only important part in your list is the 'db2' part.
His working implementation is available at http://www.sandboxie.com/
Maybe he'd tell you in exchange for a redesign of his site.

It's called mplayer2.exe, sitting in the same directory as Windows Media Player. It doesn't support some features though.
Hi Michael!

Now if only slashdot would follow suit!
What VPN support do you need?
MS PPTP? http://pptpclient.sourceforge.net/ (recommending Suse 10.0)
Cisco has a client which is included in Knoppix.
Just trying to help.

Not true. Use your other finger / eye / hand. It's being done - ask Bioscrypt, for example.
