"Automation Backlash" will be the name of my next band. But seriously, while it sucks to lose your job to automation, McDonald's doesn't owe anybody a job.
I am from China. Assange is from Australia. Those of us who are not from the United States of America tend to have an advantage over those who were born and raised inside America because we were not indoctrinated with the Pledge of Allegiance throughout our childhood (into the teen years) but the Americans do
You may not have been indoctrinated with the Pledge of Allegiance, but you certainly have been indoctrinated with the false idea that we Americans have been. I was born and raised in America and was never once in a room where the Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
The problem with the distributed social network is that anybody can create millions of fake users at will, clone existing accounts, etc. With no central authority (like FB) to delete it, the wheat will soon get buried under a deluge of chaff.
And the brain size seems inversely proportional to the number of guns. At least it seems that way viewing from a safe distance (Australia).
That ratio is usually more closely related to an organ located a bit closer to the middle of the body. (The same organ whose size is inversely proportional to the size of one's SUV or to the speed and price of one's sports car.)
Hahahaha. Seems to me the news has been full of stories for many years about how things like military software contracts have CONSTANTLY been full of abuses, bugs, and cost overruns. I've been reading about them in the news since I was a child.
Projects that are delivered on time and under budget don't make the news.
But ultimately, garbage code needs to be thrown away and programmers need to stop doing stupid things like this.
Seriously. Any programmer who assumes numbers will always be single digits should be fired on the spot. In fact, all such OS version checks should go through function calls which contain the implementation details of the version check, rather than hard-coding a string search for "Windows X" every time you want code to check what version of Windows is running.
Science fiction authors also gave us plenty of ideas we wouldn't want, not to mention technologies that are laughable (steam-powered dirigibles to commute to work?). They don't have a monopoly on ideas, nor do they consistently come up with ideas before everyone else. They are simply a popular conduit through which ideas flow.
It's not even that. What if Snowden had reported it by telephone? How about a *typewritten* letter? Maybe be reported it in person. The whole email thing is a red herring.
...every minutae of a persons life is available to the world and in 50 years nobody will care unless you become noteworthy or famous or happen to have descendents who are into all that genealogy stuff..
Not true. Sociologists and all sorts of other people who study things that may be in those pictures (cars, architecture, clothing) would find those original negatives very interesting.
There are various institutions that take such media as donations. Here's just one example: http://www.chicagofilmarchives...
There can be many "literal" interpretations of the same thing. For example, you can never put too much water on a nuclear reactor.
If the company was smart they'd detect the same IP and put two and two together.

Apple invented the desktop. Xerox, Microsoft and Linux are just faggots who've stolen the idea.
Tthe first caveman who propped up a flat rock invented the desktop. Xerox just virtualized it first.
That's even more confusing than when you want Windows to shut down, you must first select "Start".
Might as well arrest anybody who has ever seen this photo of Phan Th Kim Phúc (napalm girl) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P...

FYFY
If it's not dangerous, why do the let you opt-out?
So it appears that churchgoers who decline to divorce are sacrificing personal happiness for a "stable" marriage.
Even worse, with M$ it's any day of the week. You just have to wait until Tuesday to get a patch--if one even exists.
"Troels Oerting said that law enforcers needed to target the "rather limited group of good programmers"
So, Troels is just trolling.
It would be hilarious if it went from +5 to +1 in 3.2 seconds.

I don't need this, but I do need an automated fly swatter that is programmed to recognize and destroy annoying miniature drones.

Why would they get rid of it? Yahoo's web directory provides valuable spider bait for Google and other real search engines.
The lighting is too perfect. That's why it still looks rendered.
Are people dying to join?

Which metadata do the NSA collect?
If you know that then you can "carpet bomb" them with useless metadata rendering the logging useless.
That will only generate more data points for them to use as "evidence" that you're a terrorist.
