  3. The NASA budget of 19.5B is 0.4% of the budget and adds $10 to the economy for every $1 spent. There are plenty of wasteful programs all across the federal government that spend more than NASA.

  4. You are right. After the tax bill passed, Bernie Sanders appeared on CNN and when the interviewer said the tax bill looked like a good thing, his response was: That's why the cuts should be permanent.

The reason they weren't permanent is because Senate rules require more votes to pass permanent cuts and since no Democrats voted for it, they didn't reach that threshold.

  5. The USPS retirement funding obligation is high because the congress forced them to fund it at a much higher rate than normal corporations.

  6. The Microsoft SurfaceBook has a detachable screen that becomes a tablet. I have no idea what capabilities the screen has when detached working as a tablet but if it were to have its own wireless networking, that would be the closest thing to what the OP asked for.

It would seem that the easiest thing to do would be to run the sensitive applications in a VM. Then make sure the VM isn't running when you take the laptop to an untrusted location.

  10. They make maple syrup in Michigan? Not seeing any issues in Vermont. 2016 was a record 1.99 million gallons and 2017 was just below that with 1.98 million. Tent caterpillars are a bigger threat to the Maple trees than warm weather. As long as it is below freezing at night and above freezing during the day during sugaring season, the syrup will flow very well.

  15. Several of the men known as Founding Fathers were either full on Deists (Thomas Paine, Ben Franklin) or had Deist leanings. The term "Nature's God" from the Declaration of Independence comes from Paine's book on Deism which was widely read at the time. Pastors who knew George Washington described him a significantly influenced by Deism. Thomas Jefferson spent a good amount of time in office cutting out the bible passages he agreed with and pasting them together into what is now known as the Jefferson Bible. John Jay, Samuel Adams, and Patrick Henry were very much hard-line evangelicals but the rest were either full Deists or Christians with Deist beliefs. If the US was really founded as a Christian nation then we wouldn't have constitutional limits on government involvement in religion.

There are plenty cows in California to support this. For many years we have been doing this in Vermont, it is called Cow Power. The manure power generators are installed right on the farm. The hay that cows eat is not completely digested. The left over hay from the process is suitable for use as bedding which saves the farmer money.
